NOTE ** Because I am still a baby, I will only be placed in a home where someone is home often, such as retired, work at home, work opposite shifts, stay at home parents, etc. UPDATE 1/28/09 - Ginger is settling in just fine. Her and I have gone on many car rides. She has met many of the "locals" from the mini-mart down the street, the bank, some other dog folk, and many many passersby on the street where we live. We went to see the vet on Monday, and she was given a clean bill of health. She got a couple shots, and is scheduled to go back on 2/16 for a follow-up, booster shot. She is so well behaved. I have begun doing some leash work with her and have noticed a great improvement in her leash etiquette. Ginger is so smart. She has taken well to her new kennel, and willingly goes in every night (with a little help from from tasty treats). This Friday Mary, Ginger and I are headed to "4 Paws Academy to start her training. We looked at several local dog trainers, but Nathan's business kept coming up from our vet, out local pet store and several dog owners. We know him from some mutual friends so we expect there will be a good connection right away. Mary is taking lots of pictures and I'm trying to get her to download them so I can send them to you and Ginger's foster mommy, Tammy. That's all for now. Thanks again for bringing us together. UPDATE 1/22/09 - Well, we made the 5 hour trip back to Vermont just fine. Actually, she did far better than I thought she would. Stopped a couple times for pee breaks and a bit of romping in the snow. Once she got home she explored the house a bit, had a bite to eat, a drink and then she laid down for a nap in her kennel. Now she's getting to know the kitties, and generally giving Mary kitty owner anxiety attacks - I think it's funny. More to follow. Thanks again for everything. We should be sending along pictures within the week or so. 1/22/09 - Ginger has been adopted! 12/7/08 - Ginger is a purebred Chocolate Lab that came in with her brothers, Muddy & Rudder, from a high kill shelter. She is very playful and sweet. She constantly wants to play then she gets tired, eats, sleeps, goes outside to go to the bathroom, then comes to play again. She chews on Holly's ears, the toy basket and her toys. Teething of course. Holly and Ginger play non stop almost all day. They both went in separate kennels last night and they both had accidents in their kennels. Ginger seems to be picking up very quickly that outside is where she needs to go hurry-ups. Both the pups aren't sure what to make of snow and don't especially want to go outside. Ginger is less reluctant then Holly is though. She loves to snuggle after playing but is pretty independent and doesn't mind being away from us to much. She is so cute!!!!!!! She doesn't have any noticeable health problems but we will make an appointment for the little ladies tomorrow. Thats all on Ginger for now. |
