| 12/15/08 - Tyson is doing great! He is such a mild-mannered guy with the saddest eyes you've ever seen. Between the three dogs, everyone has a nice spot on the couch or chair. Tyson loves to curl up on something comfy and hang out. He also follows me wherever I go and absolutely LOVES treats. My husband took them on a walk yesterday out at Small Point. Tyson got to run off-leash for a little bit and then went back on the leash for the rest of the walk. My husband said he thinks Tyson really appreciated being able to stretch those enormous legs! I feel like I've said this about all my fosters but I really can't understand why anyone could give this guy up. He is obedient, quiet, loving, friendly, etc. I'm sorry Leann's power went out but I am glad for the opportunity to get to know Tyson. I have always been interested in mastiffs but now I know why people LOVE them!! 12/13/08 - I have Tyson here because Leann is without power. He is so amazing!! My dogs don't know quite what to do with him because he's so big but everyone is being very good. It will be an absolute pleasure looking after him for a few days. Look at how small my Maggie looks next to Tyson!! 12/9/08 - Tyson has been staying with me since Saturday night. He's done great with all my dogs and my cat LOVES him! My cat also likes to pick on him as well and will occasionally swat at him and corner him in the kitchen. The cat also sleeps with him and grooms him. Tyson is now trying to play with my evil JRT but my Weim loves to interrupt them. The Weim will try to get him to play but he's intimidated by her bark. She looks for trouble and the first day she tried to challenge him and was just looking for trouble. He kept turning his head and body away from her and finally gave up. He's a definite couch potato, I try to take him for walks but he just drags me to the front door. He goes out and does his business and then runs back to the door. He's only had one accident and it was when my husband gave the dogs hell for getting into the garbage when his back was turned while cooking dinner. As soon as my husband realized he was scaring the pee out of the big guy he immediately started talking softly and Tyson stopped. I too him out and he finished going. Unlike my dogs who are on a schedule, he goes to the door whenever he needs to go out. He would do best with someone who's not gone the entire day. I gotta tell you though I'm so not used to the drooling, farting, snoring, and the occasional burping....wait second, I'm married to that- except for the drooling. : ) I swear he passes gas every 15 minutes and it's quite potent! He doesn't try to get on our bed. He sleeps on a dog bed beside our bed but I'm moving his bed to my husband's side!! He's been very well mannered, very gentle, and quiet. He's doing great with my husband but is still skittish when my husband puts him on leash to go out, he will run away from him. Either I put him on leash or he sits down and tricks him into coming closer. We've actually stopped using the leash to go for potty brakes since we have a fenced yard attached to our deck. He's just one of the pack. He's very sound sensitive, any little noise jumps him. Even if he makes the noise he'll jump. Attached is a picture. He's already gained a little weight since I took him home. |
