1/12/2021-Gunner has SERIOUSLY progressed. He
is obviously food motivated, who isn't?! During walks, we carry his favorite
treats and when a person or other dog comes strolling by Gunner has been
learning to relax, sit and wait. He's a work in progress, but he's doing less
lunging towards others and more patiently waiting for his treat. He's scared of
the basement, loud noises and anything hiding in the dark - big scaredy dog for
sure! Gunner has taken a liken to sticks, and his toys! He's finally learning how
to play and enjoy life. Since the weather's getting a bit chilly, he is
insistent on crawling under the covers and being the best snuggle bug there is
Gunner has made many friends and typically remembers them - sometimes it takes
some coaxing. However, he is learning that people are not bad and other dogs
are just living there best life as he is. Within a few months, I think Gunner
will be 50% less reactive to other dogs and be a respectable gentleman on walks.
12/21/20-If
you're looking for a companion that enjoys long walks, naps and netflix -
Gunner is surely your match! Gunner is adapting very well! Gunner seems
to thrive in an environment with a person to entertain him throughout the day.
Recently, he met a new family friend and stayed with them for the day. When
meeting new humans he is extremely shy and anxious. Once warmed up he loves
every person he meets. The family friend expressed that Gunner seems to walk
with a 'Mob Mentality'. He's usually looking around and thinking all the dogs
are out to get him. On the flip side, Gunner is a scaredy cat. He runs and
hides whenever there is a loud noise or something jumps out when he isn't
looking. Gunners best characteristic is teddy bear like cuddles. He will let
you sleep on his back as you both take naps together and certainly doesn't mind
snuggling under the covers.
12/16/20 Gunner is looking for a home for the
holidays! Coming in at 85 lbs he is a big cuddly bear! He LOVES to get
attention. Gunner has been in the foster home for 3 days now. He has become
more comfortable and is showing his true loving colors. He seems to love pets
and kisses, practically every 10 mins he's looking for attention. He is great
at walking on the leash and doesn't pull too often. However, if he sees a
squirrel he becomes extremely antsy. Additionally, he is
aggressive and when he sees one on the walk he pulls, barks and attempts
to interrogate them. I foresee this being trainable and with a strong
individual he will be better around other dogs.
Gunner's
favorite things are walks, cuddles, and sleep! He loves to sleep all day if you
let him but would prefer to be on an adventure!
12/13/20-Gunner
has arrived into rescue, and after a very long day on the road to his foster
home, is settling in. He is an owner surrender as he was having bad fights with
the other dog in his home & at doggie daycare with other dogs. His owner
said Gunner is a very good dog, he just needs to be the only pet. She also said
he listens well, he's funny, goofy & well mannered. Please check back soon
as we get to know him better.
