6/23/23-Samwise update: this guy is the easiest pup we have fostered! He adapted to the environment change very well from mill life & is really learning how to be a dog. His personality is blossoming more and more everyday. He is completely potty trained (if you pay attention to his signals), he knows sit, and we are working on shake. He is a little sponge, soaking up everything he can from our dogs, such as watching for squirles at the bird feeder,  wanting ice cubes out of the ice dispenser, loving feeding time, sniffing and running around outside, playing with toys, and even pre cleaning the dishes in the dirty dishwasher when we load it. He is such a good boy,very eager to please and loves everyone he interacts with. His favorite thing is cuddling. He loves to be touching us, and loves snuggling, and naps on the couch. I thought he was a shedder, but I think he just lost some hair in his bath, he hasnt shed since then, that we have noticed. This guy is truly 1 of a kind and ready for his forever home!
 

6/19/23-Sam continues to amaze us everyday. He has learned so much in the week we’ve had him. He is doing so well potty training and has learned to sit at the door before we come back in. He loves people, and loves to snuggle (we actually let him in our bed for cuddle time this morning).  He is doing well with his Lyme disease, and takes his meds like such a big boy. Sam would do well in a home with or without dogs. If we were looking to add another family member we wouldn’t hesitate to adopt Sam as he’s that great! Don’t miss out on this baby!

6/16/23-After just 2 days on his meds Sam is doing so much better. He is back to his normal, happy self. He’s such a sweet baby boy. He is doing good with the other dogs now too, he knows they just want to be friends. He’s a cuddler with his people and loves to play with the dogs when he feels good. Sam is such a good boy & ready to go to his new home. Don’t miss out of this cuddle bug puppy!

6/14/23-Sam is incredibly sweet, very smart, so silly, and is loving the life of freedom from the mill. The first day or two he was very scared of our dogs but now he knows they just want to be friends & likes them.   Yesterday he woke up limping with a swollen front paw. My husband said they were outside and Sam was running and stepped on a hole. We gave it overnight & we’re keeping him crated so he can let it rest to see if he was going to get better.  This morning he was still limping & swollen so he went to the vet for x-rays to make sure nothing was broken. There were no breaks so we did a Lyme test & Sam tested positive for Lyme. The Lyme is what was causing the joint inflammation, pain and fever. She put him on 30 days of amoxicillin antibiotics for the lyme & 15 days of carprofen(aka Rimadyl) for pain and inflammation. He will be feeling much better in a just a few days & ready to go home! 6/13/23-Samwise update- we are in love with this guy. He’s the sweetest, softest soul and loves every human he comes in contact with. He loves attention and lots of cuddles. He slept on my lap outside for an hour today. He’s a very smart, happy go lucky guy. He is doing really well potty training, he goes to the door when he has to go, and  has already learned sit. He likes his crate, and sleeps well in it at night. We have found that he doesn’t like to be left alone right now. When we are out of sight he gets very upset and barks a lot. This guy has stolen our hearts. If you are looking for a very affectionate, smart, handsome pup, Samwise is your guy. He is a jumper, and he has very strong herding instincts (he tries to herd us)  so a home with small children would not be good. 

 
6/11/23-We just found out Sammy is bigger than we thought & weighs 31 lbs already! He is also a lot bigger than his brother Poyer(who is only 20 lbs). So Sammy is going to be closer to 50 lbs full grown. Also, he sheds a lot, like an Aussie, so will not good for someone looking for a more poodle hair type doodle. 
 
6/10/23-Samwise arrived to his foster home this morning & is such a good boy. He greeted us with a tail wags and is adapting quickly. He is too overwhelmed for our dogs right now but we are taking it slow. He’s doing really well on a leash, and doesn’t mind being tied out on the porch with us. He’s already asking for belly rubs and has found that he likes the couch! LOL

06/09/23-Samwise (aka: Sammy) is handsome almost 5 month old Mini aussiedoodle. He was saved from being killed by a puppy mill along with his brother Poyer as they just got too old for them to sell. They arrived safely into rescue late tonight thanks to their transport & overnight volunteers. They are half Australian Shepherd & half mini aussiedoodle(mini poodle/mini Australian shepherd) so they are 3/4 aussie. It appears Sammy got a little more Australian shepherd DNA than his brother as he looks more Aussie with just slightly wild hair!  We estimate he will be about 35 lbs full grown. More updates soon from his foster home!
