8/13/23-So a little update on Leo the lover… who will be 1 year old on Sept 12! He’s a 50 lb sweet as sugar, LAP dog! He is very good on the leash, total protector/watch dog from all the scary sounds out in the country! LOL His big boy bark is quite impressive but he’s a fun, kind, loving brother to his foster sister. Leo does not mind his feet, ears or mouth touched & was a great boy while I brushed his teeth! Here Leo is not showing he is potty trained but I’m working on it by taking FREQUENT walks outside (his puppy brain is distracted EASILY!). Sit, down, stay are not on his radar yet but we are on repeat with sit for now to try to teach him some sort of obedience. We’re enjoying our time together and will be visiting the vet tomorrow for his pre neuter check up & hoping for a clean bill of health.
8/11/23-I couldn’t let Leo cry himself to sleep on his first night…. So we slept on the couch together. He was a perfect puppy, especially when he woke me up with kisses to go potty this morning. He does inhale his food (only gave him a handful, but will keep giving little meals throughout the day!) What a wonderful boy he is. He’s a sweet, cuddly, happy boy! We’re having so much fun getting to know each other. Leo is an absolute darling! Since Leo met my dog Phoebe he can’t get enough kisses from her. Her face is soaked. LOL They are doing wonderful together and having a ball! His pre-neuter vet visit is Monday 8/14 & he is set to be neutered the Monday after, on 8/21.
8/10/23-Leo & Kaden are two super cute 11 month old boxer boys that came into rescue today thanks to their transport volunteers. Their owner bought them from a puppy mill as babies. They are from 2 different litters but very close in age. Their owners are an older couple & they realized that they’re not in great physical health themselves anymore to handle two young boxer puppies. They contacted the mill owner who didn’t want them back & luckily the mill referred them to rescue. The owners said they were raised with a cat & good with cats & are house trained, crate trained, friendly with dogs too. They went to separate foster homes to get evaluated & neutered & then they will be ready to go home. Both are super sweet!
