3/23/24-Ella continues to get more and more confident and playful. Her spay surgery on Tuesday went really well and she is ready to be playing with the dogs and getting cuddles from all the humans. She is playful, she & my dog were playing with a ball today. She loves to follow our dog around and run after him. The vet did not specify if the melatonin is needed year round for her seasonal alopecia but a good diet & omega-3 fatty acids, which support skin health are also good treatments to help it. It’s all cosmetic though, not a sickness. I have taken her to work at the college a few times and she is so easy & very relaxed. Not like my puppy! Lol She follows me everywhere, heels and does not need to be on a leash. She stops when I stop. When on a leash, she does not pull and stays with the person walking her. She knows her name and comes to you when called. She is so excited about her people and loves to be close to them. If you would like a very easy, affectionate, happy dog that is already partly trained and does not have the crazy puppy energy this is your dog. Ella is a sweetie- I think best in a home with people around or a dog around. She likes company. Don’t miss out this great girl!
3/14/24-Ella’s pre spray appointment went well today and she is approved for spay on Tuesday 3/19 & will be ready to go to her new home after that. Her skin issue is just seasonal alopecia and can be treated with 5mg of melatonin a day. Ella is doing so well. She has not had any accidents in the house. She walks well on a leash, no pulling, and stays by your side. We have experimented with off the leash play and she comes back to the person when called. She is not one to run away. She does not like the crate though and is not coaxed by treats. She will settle in there at night. We left her in there one morning for an hour when we went to work and she destroyed the dog bed. She is fine at home with our dog when we leave the house so we are not crating her anymore during the day. She is not eating alot yet but I think it’s just taking time for her to settle in. She is starting to get to know her name. She loves people and other dogs and rarely barks. She just wants to cuddle and is very gentle. She will be such a great dog to any family, with a dog or not, children or not. She is a sweetie!
3/10/24-We have had Ella for 24 hours now and she is such a sweetie. She is not your typical mill dog, she is very cuddly, curious and socialized. She walks well on a leash, has not had any accidents in the house, and learned how to do stairs today. Her pre spray appointment is Thursday march 14 with a spay hopefully a few days later and then she will be ready for her forever home.
3/09/24-Ella is a very sweet mini Bernedoodle. She walks really well on a leash. She likes other dogs and follows our pup around the house. She was also good with the cats in her temp foster home. She is a bit skittish right now when you walk over to pet her but also wags her tail and eventually lays down so you can pet her. She has not eaten any food yet but this is her first few hours with us. She is very sweet and wants to be with people.
03/07/24-Ella is a beautiful 4 year old Mini Bernedoodle (Miniature Poodle/Bernese Mountain Dog) that was saved from a puppy mill as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks her transport & temporary foster volunteers. She has her prespay appointment next Thursday 3/14 when we will also have her hair loss looked at. Once she is spayed & we get to know her a little bit more she will be ready to go home.
