7/3/24-Jase is an Honorary Golden Retriever over here!!He’s finally warmed up to Atlas and one of my Day Campers, Kai! He still LOVES playing with balls and is slowly learning about dog playing etiquette. His fecal test came back negative so another antibiotic is being added that is known to do well with clearing up the bloody stools we often see in the frenchies we get. As long as his stomach clears up in a couple of weeks he will be able to be neutered then.

7/01/24-Jase went to the vet to be neutered this morning & to get a fecal test as he had some bloody loose stool. According to his breeder he has a prior history of giardia he had been treated for.  Unfortunately the vet refused to neuter him due to the diarrhea & said will need to wait a couple of weeks until that is cleared up as otherwise the neuter now can make his system worse. Jase was given panacur as another type of all-wormer & antibiotic metronidazole to treat the diarrhea. We should have the fecal results soon too. This all will delay picking Jase’s new home as he will need to be neutered before we can do that. On a good note with all his activity & playing in his foster home he has lost 5 lbs & looking better as he was a little on the “thick” side! Lol

6/27/24-Another great day for J-Man! Jase got a professional spa day over at Smooches for Pooches here in Western NY. The groomer/owner said he was FANTASTIC for everything, including the high speed dryer! He really wanted to play with the shop dogs (all of them are Pugs) & enjoyed hanging out with the other groomers until I picked him up!
He’s finally coming out of his shell & is running laps in the backyard with my male Golden, Atlas!
6/25/24-Another Jase Update! He’s been great the past few days. Yesterday we made a strong attempt to go on a walk in the neighborhood. Jase gave it a good old college try, but he only made it three houses down before plopping down and rolling in the grass.
We did take that opportunity and learned that just existing in an area full of distractions is a GREAT thing! Cars? Neighbors? Other dogs? Strollers? Completely unbothered! Today, he went to one of our favorite local pet stores here in Western NY & he got the VIP treatment!!! He politely greeted the owner and the other staff members. No jumping, barking or any sort of fear/hesitation. They even locked the front doors and let him run around the store! He picked out a new toy and they gave us PLENTY of samples to take home, since he is still very picky with food. He was a bit nervous when we got him fitted for his new harness (laid on the ground and pretended like he was a rock), but once he realized the nice people there just wanted to be his friend, he wasn’t as tense.

6/24/24-Jase has plenty of nicknames including: J-Man, Jasey Face, Dough Boy and Au Jus just to name a few. Jase warms up to new human friends quickly and is very respectful of his cat comrades. Jase loves my dog Win (who doesn’t?!) but can be nervous around Batty, especially when he gets wound up. He’s been a rockstar with crate training and potty training isn’t going too bad! He has been going on very short walks (down our driveway and back) to get him used to a leash. He is VERY picky with food/treats, so verbal positive reinforcement has been our go to. “How are his leash walking skills?” No walking here yet, only a Roly Poly Potato Bug who likes to sploot. Lol  He is super cute AND has the best personality to match!! He loved watching Jake & Bratty work last night in the front yard.
He gets neutered July 1st so he will be ready for his new home then. Until now, he’s getting used to a new house, a big backyard & his new friends.

6/23/24-Other important info to know:
– Quiet in the crate for bedtime
– Prefers eating in his crate with a blanket over top
– We’re working on potty training, but so far he’s only had two accidents.

6/22/24-Jase Update! He is the DEFINITION of a Ladies’ Man! Jase met my mom and sister for the first time and it didn’t take him long to warm up! He also prefers hanging out with my female golden over my male (absolutely zero aggression – my male is very confident/cocky and it makes Jase nervous right now, versus my girl who is very neutral and just happy to have company!). With that being said, he’ll do well in a home who focuses on positive reinforcement & willing to help him build his confidence. He is still in good standings with the cats. If he’s not following them around the house, he’s following me. Did I mention he is OBSESSED with balls?!! Tennis balls, lacrosse balls, squeaky balls – anything he can fit in his mouth he loves to drag along the floor & hold.

6/20/24-Meet the newest SCBR foster on the block – Jase!  He is a 2 1/2 yr old gorgeous male french bulldog from a nice breeder that just didn’t need him anymore. They said he is happy, social with everyone & everything. Loves to run & play.  He arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to his transport volunteers. This handsome ham is coming out of his shell and is finally exploring other parts of the house! So far, the kitchen is his favorite place to hang out. He is enjoying his feline company and loves sharing snacks with them (Kitty Pill Pockets). His neuter is Monday 7/1 & then he will be ready to go home.
