9/15/24-Ruby is doing great! Her best friend foster girl Mini was recently spayed and had mammary mass removal and Ruby has been by her side. What a great best friend. Ruby is still patiently waiting for her forever home & I can’t believe she still has not been adopted. She’s such a great girl. I’ve have noticed lately with Ruby that she loves to collect items from around the house and take them to her bed. Whether it’s a toy, your pants, your shirt, whatever she can find. She loves to hoard things.lol She is absolutely the most adorable thing ever. She also loves to spend time outside laying in the sun. Ruby does great with the vacuum cleaner and is very curious of things that you may be doing around the house. She is doing great eating and drinking and there’s not really too much to update on Ruby cuz she is just a great girl. Though she loves having another dog around if she has a home that she can bond with her people we are sure she will adjust with time.
9/6/24-Ruby is patiently waiting for her forever home. She was just recently spayed and is fully healed and ready to go. You couldn’t ask for a better dog. Ruby is just the sweetest girl ever half the time you don’t even know you have a dog in the house. She is still a little cautious but she is progressing so good. Ruby’s been with me a little over a month and we have came such a long way. Ruby loves to be outside. She’s recently started to run around the yard and loves to roll around in the grass. She also nuzzles her face into the grass as well. She’s just so cute. Ruby is a toy hoarder she just loves toys. Ruby does not get crated . She does great free-ranging the house and we have not had any accidents anywhere . We had a few in the beginning but Ruby is doing excellent.
9/4/24-Oh Miss Ruby and foster pal little Miss Mini are both doing great but I did take the crate away today as they need to build confidence and not always running to hide in the crate. They had an open door policy for the crate as I never locked them in it. They do great free roaming the house but I need them to feel secure in themselves and not secure behind a crate.
8/29/24-Ruby is making great progress , as I do have another Foster in the home Ruby has became very attached to her. I do feel Ruby would do best in a home with another dog . She seems happy when she’s around other dogs. Ruby was recently spayed and a week after her spay I did notice a little blood from her back end. Ruby had to go back to the vet which she was diagnosed with a UTI (urinary tract infection). She is now on a medication for that . She is healed from her spay and on recovery for her UTI. Ruby has really opened up and is starting to interact more with the humans in the house. She even came out into the kitchen and just sat there. I offered her a treat. She took her treat so gently and went on her bed and ate it. She is just the sweetest thing ever. She has also started to go in and out of the house on her own which is a huge accomplishment. Probably tired of being picked up and carried all the time. LOL Ruby is waiting so patiently for her forever family. She is a very happy girl and so good you don’t even know she’s around half the time. She’s such a good girl. She also loves playing with the toys.
8/23/24-Ruby has been resting and recovering from her spay on Monday. She’s doing great & her incision is healing wonderfully. She’s just been doing a lot of resting which is the best thing for her. It’s been a pretty quiet week with Ruby due to her spay. She is the happiest girl, When she sees you she wags her tail which is a good sign as she is getting more comfortable to home life . Prior to her spay Ruby was starting to run around the yard which is the cutest thing ever as it just makes my heart so happy to see them experience happiness and freedom. She is ready to go home!
8/17/24-Ruby is doing exceptionally well. She has really opened up and becoming to be more comfortable around you. She is just the sweetest girl ever. Ruby is eating well, drinking well and loves to hoard the toys which is totally fine by me. Ruby also got a second bath which she seemed to really enjoy. Ruby still likes to go in the backyard and roll around in the grass. Ruby will be going for her spay on Monday the 19th & after that she will be ready for her forever home.
8/14/24-Poor Ruby was panting really hard & her tummy was tender yesterday morning. The panting got worse by evening so due to fear of a uterus infection which can be deadly if not seen right away or maybe something else. We couldn’t wait until the next morning vet appointment & rushed her to the ER vet tonight. Many tests, xrays, untrasound, bloodwork & overnight ICU stay bring observed, thousands of dollars later, the ER vet found nothing wrong & said she is perfectly healthy! She just was confirmed to have l a low grade 2 heart murmur that original vet heard too when she came into rescue. This is nothing to worry about, but they said that would not cause the panting. So we think our little one was just having a very stressful day! LOL At least we know she is one healthy girl as we did every test under the sun.
8/12/24-Ruby has been with me a little over a week and is beginning to start to open up . She has started to explore the house as before she just would stay in the crate unless I pulled her out. I do allow her to access the crate at night when we go to bed with the door open an option to come out whenever she wants as she has done great with potty training. Ruby has only had one accident in the house. She will not willingly go outside as I do have to pick her up and carry her. But when it is time to come back in the house., she has started to willingly come in on her own. Once back in the house she goes to her bed which I feel is her safe spot and that is totally okay. We are taking baby steps and progressing great . Ruby has also made some progress with drinking water from the bowl (many breeder dogs don’t understand this). She also loves to go out into the yard and roll around in the grass. We have not yet had any progress with leash training as she will not move so she does have free range of the fenced backyard which is very large. She basically just goes out, does her business and rolls around in the grass! Lol I haven’t seen her run around or have zoomies yet but I’m sure that’s going to come as she gets more comfortable This little girl is one beautiful dog and there’s one lucky family out here that is going to be blessed with her. She will be going for her spay in a week and will be ready for her forever home after that.
8/5/24-Ruby is adjusting to home life after being a breeder dog. She spends most of her time in the crate with the option to come out whenever she wants, but that’s where she feels most comfortable at the moment. She’s not very used to humans but we are working on that. She has been doing great with potty training and gets along great with the resident animals, cat and dog. We are only on day three and she is starting to get a little more comfortable and coming out and roaming the house. We are working on drinking from a bowl as that seems it is not something she is used to drinking from. Ruby does eat very well but she will only eat from a plate as she must not be used to being fed from a bowl either. Many more updates as I bond and get more acquainted with this beautiful girl.
08/02/24-Ruby is a beautiful 5 year old female blenheim color(red & white) Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She came in from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport volunteers. She has her spay on Monday 8/19 & will be ready to go home after that.
