9/28/24-My pug is the one who taught Manti to use the doggie door too! Manti loves taking herself outside on her own. She is just now starting to enjoy rolling in the grass & come over for pets while out.
9/19/24-Manti is doing great. She is running through the house, going outside via the doggie door, sometimes with her foster doggie sister, sometimes by herself just to explore. She is still unsure of people. While she loves to be pet, snuggle on the sofa she is still timid unless she is in her “safe place”. We are working on leash training, but it is challenging. Today for the first time while outside she walked over to me ( with coaxing) for pets. Tomorrow we’ll work on this some more. Manti is dying to be adopted so she can snuggle in the bed or couch with her new owner(s).
9/5/24-Manti is now doggie door trained, too!
9/3/24-Manti loves other dogs & right now prefers them. She is just now learning to trust humans though & is learning by leaps & bounds. Now is a great time to adopt her & be her person. Once she trusts & walks with her new owner she is likely to be a velcro dog. Leash training will be a formality to work on in her new home. Her original vet check the day she came in from the breeder said she may have a low grade 2 out of 6 heart murmur. Our main vet that spayed her a week later didn’t note anything on her spay paperwork so likely it’s more like a 1, but neither level are anything to be concerned with at this point. They did note a deformed baby toe too, it just doesn’t hit the ground. Manti appears totally unbothered by this. She also has beagle ears, so we are cleaning them weekly to avoid issues. Big progress today as Manti just came running outside onto the grass twice with me & the girls. She is the cutest thing with her beagle ears & English bulldog booty! LOL This sweet gentle girl has so much potential & deserves her new home.
8/28/24-Manti is starting to slowly adjust to life outside where she came from as a breeder She is now coming out & playing with the other dogs consistently when I am not home. For the very first time yesterday I got a tail wag (which was a whole butt wiggle lol ). She is coming out and watching me from 10+ feet away making her food, or waiting for me & her doggie sisters to come in from outdoors. Still totally scared of the outdoors, makes us wonder if she had indoor kennel only. I just discovered cookies she likes and hoping to start bribing her with this. She is super sweet & docile though. She even let me clean her ears without a noise, but still so scared of everything. Manti is going to need a patient home that is willing to continue to socialize her & make her move out of comfort zone to explore & experience her new life.
8/19/24-Manti made through her spay on 8/16 without issue. She is eating & drinking like a champ. I’ve been worried because she has not been getting up & walking around ( nothing entices her, my pug Maeve is working so hard to make her feel welcome). I am carrying her outside 3x a day, she quickly runs off the grass & onto the porch. I’m leaving her out ( in good weather) an hour. Will pee on command, if she has to go.Today I came home from an appointment, I see Maeve in 1 window and Manti looking at me from the other! She met me at the door with my other 2, then ran back to “her spot”. Apparently she is walking around, just not ready to do it when a human is in the house. She will come around with time & learning people are good.
8/17/24-Manti is slowly coming out of her shell. Very slowly but a few glimmers & going up and down stairs on her own. She did see one cat very briefly at her overnight spot last Saturday morning and didn’t have any reaction to him so she will probably be ok with dog savvy cats. Manti was spayed yesterday so will be ready to go home soon!
8/11/24-Manti arrived yesterday at her foster home. She is doing great with my dogs and is bonding well with the dog bed. LOL
08/08/24-Manti is a sweet 5 year old female Beabull(English Bulldog/beagle). She came in from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport & temporary foster volunteers. Manti has her spay next Friday 8/16 & will be ready to go home after that.
