11/3/24-Good news on Cali- no more diarrhea and is eating like a champ. We did three small meals yesterday just to try and get some weight back on her and she tolerated it very well. She’s also running around with our dog this morning! We are still finishing up her antibiotics over the next few days too. She will be ready to go to her new home later this week!
10/18/24-Introducing sweetie pie “Cali” (Calico). This gentle girl is a smaller standard tricolor Aussie slightly underweight (30 lbs) but making strides with eating and is on her way to packing on a few pounds we hope.
She is timid right now but is slowly adjusting to a life of freedom. The last few days we saw her loosen up a bit and watched her trot in the backyard and explore the house with a smile. She is happy and comfortable with our dog and that definitely helps her confidence. She still startles with loud noises or when approached too quickly but it’s been less than a week and expect this to continue to improve. She is comfortable on a leash and does great in the crate (at night just likes to be next to her people unless you don’t mind a little howling! Lol We initially thought may have some joint issues but that actually has dissipated so may have been related to being cooped up for too long (will have the vet confirm). Once she gets comfy she loves to be pet. It is so sweet to see her tense body immediately relax and I know will be a little love bug once she realizes she’s safe. Has a spay appt on 10/22 and then will be ready for adoption. She is the perfect size for adventuring and traveling. Cali is going to make a great little companion.
10/15/24-We just got a report from the temporary foster home that had her 2 nights: Cali met the cats & had no cat issues while there, so she can go to a home with cats. They also said she was super sweet!
10/14/24-Poor girl came in underweight with lots of scabs and a little face wound deeper than the rest. Looks like it’s healing well to me though. Tons of matts cut out last night. Will get you better pictures soon once she’s still. Did good with her mini groom. She will make the best companion. Very gentle spirit- can tell she wants to be so accepting of love but she is hesitant right now, it is just too soon.
10/13/24-Calico arrived to her foster home & is settling in. We are getting some matts and scabs off.. has a few wounds but despite her physical condition has the gentlest spirit. Can’t wait to show her all the love she deserves. Will keep you all updated!
10/12/24-Cali is doing well. She drank and ate dinner last night and breakfast this morning. There may be a problem her back right leg and/or hip possibly. It seems weaker and wobbly right now. She hasn’t ran for us yet so we haven’t been able to see how she does. We will get it checked out at her spay appointment. Otherwise, she is so sweet, wiggles her little tail all the time and is currently supervising my husband put the roof on our new shed. Lol
10/11/24-Calico (aka: Cali) is a beautiful 2 year old female black tri-color standard size Australian Shepherd. She came in from a commercial breeder that no longer needed her. She arrived into rescue today thanks to her transport & temporary foster home volunteers. She will be spayed on Tuesday 10/22 & will be ready to go home soon after that.
