11/9/24-This has escalated quickly, she’s found the luxury of a human bed! LOL Chloe Belle is the best dog ever & is doing so great. She is such a good dog. Everyone that meets her, loves her. She’s started to come out of her shell – she will venture into other rooms, goes outside by herself (she knows where to go and hasn’t had one accident since being here!). Her little tail has started to wag sometimes, and she smiles when she’s being petted or praised. She is recovering from her spay very well. No cone needed as so hasn’t even tried to get to the surgery site. Because she is still recovering we have to limit her activity… We go on very short walks where she stays right by my side the whole time. She eats breakfast and dinner. She will rest in her crate or on the couch when she needs a break. We still haven’t heard her bark so we don’t know what her voice sounds like! She is now ready to go to her new home.
11/3/24-Chloe Belle had another great night in the crate. She doesn’t make a peep all night. And even though we try multiple times a day, she only goes potty once a day. She eats kibble for both breakfast and dinner. I keep water in her bowl in her crate and right now she only sips a few times during the day. Luckily her toenail is totally fine now. She ventures out of the crate when I open it in the morning but generally stays to the area right around it and either stands or sits and observes the goings on of the household. Currently she is very timid every time we approach her… And she shies away a little bit but that’s already getting better as she’s warming up and starting to trust. We try to introduce her to anybody that comes over, kids or adults! She’s good with everybody but again just really shy and nervous at first. We go out for walks a couple times a day and she’s very polite. She definitely follows the leader with Bruno. She is a real sweetie and all four of us love her!
11/2/24-Meet Chloe Belle! She’s very cutesy, very mindful, very demure….she’s a 6 year-old boxer baby mama, ready to begin the new, carefree life she deserves. She’ll be ready for her forever home sometime next week or so after her spay. Chloe is a very quiet, very sweet, observant girl. Her coloring is beautiful. And she has such kind eyes and mannerisms. She is a little nervous at first, so she cowers a little until she sniffs you out. But by the end of the night last night, she was sitting next to me on the floor loving her pets and even giving little kisses. Right now she startles at sudden movement, but mostly I think because she doesn’t know what to expect from us yet. Chloe got a bath right away. One of her toenails had caught on something during the transport on Friday & her nail was ripped off to the quick. We tended to her toe-nail (her nails are Guinness Book of World Record long, so we will have the vet clip Tuesday when she goes for spay). She really enjoyed the towel dry off after bath time. Chloe slept in her crate all night without a peep. She ate a small dinner last night and almost all her breakfast this morning. She doesn’t love going into the crate, but she does seem to like kibble and bougie treats so we will work on it! She seemed indifferent to our dog Bruno’s advances to interact/play, but this morning she gave him a couple of boxer arm throws and I think I saw her little nub wag. I think there’s a big personality inside there, and I can’t wait to see it come out in the next few days. We already love her.
11/1/24-Chloe Belle is a very sweet 6 year old female boxer that came in today from a commercial breeder. It was their son’s dog but now they got a pony for him so they don’t need her anymore. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. There is a note from the brief initial vet check that she may have a heart murmur so we will have our regular vet check that out next week when she goes in for her spay. She has her spay on Tuesday 11/5. Once she is spayed she will be ready to go to her new home.
