1/18/25-Well we’ve had Nugget for a week! Knock on wood, she has only had those few accidents in the house the first day we had her. That doesn’t guarantee she won’t have accidents in her new home, any changes can cause a setback, but she should catch back on quickly. She really likes her walks and is very gentle on leash unless she sees a cat or squirrel. Then she wants to run! Nugget manages being crated when we’re not home just fine, but you bet your biscuits she’ll be with you at bed time! No crate for her then, no thank you ma’am! She is not a bed hog but definitely likes to be touching you.
Nugget does alert at unexpected noises or people, but settles quickly with a “shhhh”. I love how wiggly she is when I get home and let her out of her crate, she is sooooo happy. She would be fine in a home with older kids, or a home with no kids. She’s just started being interested in our Boxer so she may enjoy a calmly playful dog friend. She had her initial appointment at the vet to be cleared for surgery. Blood work results showed everything is good. Though we got a birthdate, the vet thinks Nugget is closer to 2 years old, which the vet that did her initial exam after rescue also thought. Maybe the breeder mixed up the year or dogs?  She’s scheduled to be spayed on January 29th and will be ready for her forever home soon after.

1/13/25-Miss Nugget shoved herself through the stair gate to get to me after I went to bed last night. Climbed right up on my bed and slept there the entire night like she’d been doing it her whole life. She was QUITE pleased with herself! LOL Slept all night on the bed without a peep (well except for her snoring!) until I had to wake her up this morning. She’s also drinking out of the big water bowl which is a huge thing for most of these breeder dogs-Woohoo!

1/12/25-Nugget went to the bathroom outsie, on a walk! Side note, she is a squirrel chaser so since we have no cats to test her with she will need a cat-free home. From tensing up when I touched her to giving me the entire menu of belly in 36 hours. Plus she followed me up all the stairs when I went to bed! What a difference already.

1/11/25-We’re back at it! Nugget arrived safely this morning from our lovely overnight “foster Dog Hotel”.  Donna & Stuart are so wonderful bathing all their hotel guests. Nugget is very reserved and quiet so far, tensing up when touched. She loved her pill pocket with the dewormer filled center. LOL She’s Lyme positive so will be on a course of antibiotics but no other medical issues noted at her initial vet check. She’s hanging out with my hubby, finally a foster that seems to like him the best! Nugget ate last night at her “hotel” but so far no drinking, fingers crossed it’s just nerves. Her poop was mostly straw. Poor baby! She’s bigger than we thought by her pictures, long legged and 38 lbs. I can’t wait to see her come out of her shell and relax.

01/10/25-Nugget is a sweet 4 year old Miniature Goldendoodle (Miniature Poodle/Golden Retriever). She came in from a commercial breeder as they just didn’t need her anymore. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks her transport & overnight volunteers. She has her pre-spay appointment next Thursday 1/16v& then we will schedule her spay asap after that. Once she is spayed this cutie will be ready to go to her new home!
