3/9/25-Gertrude has her spay appointment this Wednesday, 3/12, then she will be ready to find her forever home. She’s loving learning how to be a family pet, and has been spoiled by myself and my kids. We did our first PetsMart trip on Friday and she did wonderfully. She ignored all of the other dogs around her and just sniffed everything. She still needs some guidance to get outside, but there have still been no accidents in the house. She prefers to eat in her crate and will go in and sit to wait for her food if she’s hungry. She also sleeps well in the crate over night. She does need prompting to get up if she’s already sleeping before she goes in the crate for the night, but once she’s up and moving she will walk right over and get in. We’ll definitely miss sweet Gertie, but we are so excited for her to find her forever family.

3/4/25-Gertrude is slowly making herself at home, and has claimed her favorite spot on the couch. She is still an easy going girl who just loves to lounge around and snooze a lot of the day, but she gets a burst of energy for our daily walks. She is doing great with crate training, and I still haven’t heard her bark at all. This beautiful girl is so laid back, even when things get a little loud and rowdy with my kids.
3/01/25-Gertie made herself comfy on the couch for the first time last night, which made my cat Dolly more interested in getting close. Whoever adopts Gertrude will truly be the luckiest person!

2/25/25-Sweet Gertrude had her preop spay appointment today, and got scheduled for spay on Wednesday March 12. She is slowly coming out of her shell and getting some more pep in her step. She absolutely adores my kids (4 year old twins), still completely ignores the cats, and goes to the door when she has to go outside. Today was my first time having her on a leash, and she did surprisingly well. She needed a little encouragement at some points, but didn’t pull at all and listened beautifully. She had her first bath the other day, and was completely unphased once I was able to get her upstairs to the tub. My kids even helped bathe her. Shes a stocky girl weighing in at 67 pounds! Whoever adopts Gertie will be so lucky to have her gentle spirit in their life.

2/23/25-Gertrude is such a sweetie! She’s patient with my children (age 4), and just wants to lay close to us. She drank well yesterday, and ate her food at some point overnight. She needs some encouragement to get outside to go to the bathroom, but she hasn’t had any accidents in the house. She’s just the sweetest girl. Gertrude is seriously the chillest boxer I have ever met. It’s only been two days, but I haven’t even heard her bark yet. She just wants to hang out close to her people.

2/22/25-Gertrude is loving her new bed. So far she just ignores the cats and loves pets from my kids. Right now she’s very timid and standoffish, but we’ll get there! she’s perfect.

02/21/25-Gertrude is a sweet almost 2 year old female boxer that came in today from a commercial breeder as they just didn’t need her anymore. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. She has an ear infection she is being treated for. Her pre-spay checkup is next Tuesday 2/25 & she will be spayed soon after.
