7/4/25-My 4 & 6 year old niece & nephew were here today & Millie was great. She went up to them, followed them around & sat on the couch & was really well behaved. Think she likes kids better than some adults! Lol

7/2/25-Millie continues to grow everyday. She now seeks me out for attention. She now joins the other dogs as they follow me from room to room. She slept on-a bed on the floor of my room. She is even wagging her tail when she sees me. Also good news for those only wanting a single dog, Millie doesn’t seek out the other dogs or show bonding to them. So now we know she will be fine as an only dog, or with dogs, either way.  She also loves to sit with you & probably would like to cuddle in bed if you want her to.  She has no issues with the cat in her new foster home & met the neighbors 8 year old child & was good too.  A great girl & ready for her new home!

7/1/25-Millie is doing great this morning . She walked outside and back in on her own this morning.  She is exploring the back yard without pacing today.  She loves my husband and is joining him both on the couch and the hospital bed on her own . She tolerates me. lol

She is joining the other dogs outside when they the explore.

6/30/25-Millie has been with us at her new foster home 24 hours and doing well. She was an only dog in her other foster home and coming into a foster with multiple dogs( one that’s a yipper) is a little overwhelming. She loves to lay on the couch or sleep in her bed. When she is in either of those spaces you and pick her up and do anything to her. Outside in the yard she is Officer Millie patrolling the perimeter. Hopefully in a few more days as she gets more comfortable and learns the routine she can learn a few things about being a dog from the girls . Getting her back in the house I simply step on her leash or wait for her to lay down in the strawberry patch to pick her up.
6/26/25-Due to her foster home’s upcoming vacation, Millie is moving to another foster home on Sunday.  More updates soon!

6/21/25-Our sweet foster, Millie. If you are looking for a dog that just wants to be on the couch with you, then Millie is your dog! She has warmed up and is such a love!  She just wants you to sit on the couch…And not leave. Lol. She loves being in our garden with us as well.

6/15/25-Millie cuddled with her head on my husbands lap last night for the first time. This is another big step for her as she continues to learn to trust.  Wish I could have snapped a photo! She also growled for the first time last night when she heard an unknown noise. Totally surprised us!  Protecting her people! Lol

6/8/25-I see you out to window, where are we going?!  Are you packing the car?  Roadtrip!! Millie loves sleeping in the car on road trips. You don’t even know she’s back there she passes out!  She could go all the way to Mexico! Millie would be a great dog for someone who likes a co-pilot (a sleepy one though! Lol).  Sweet Millie is also becoming more comfortable with us.  She likes being on the couch during the day when we’re at work. She was more hesitant initially with my husband, like most ex commercial breeder dogs, but has warmed up to him and lets him pet her.  She even now allows him to give her belly rubs and will come up to greet him.  Despite her challenges has come a long way. She is great with using her pee pads and sleeps in her crate at night only. Millie will make a good companion for someone & even happier if it is someone who is home a little more. There seems to be a real value when these types of dogs have exposure to other dogs, and I believe she will benefit from that exposure. A new home with other dogs and someone who wants a sweet girl on their lap, would be the best next stop for her.
I’m praying she can go to a home with dogs to continue to gain confidence & learn to be a dog.

5/31/25-Millie did well with her grooming. Didn’t love the bath as much! Thank you to Amy and everyone at Waggin Tails who do exceptionally well with dogs and cats. Millie looks great!

5/27/25-2 weeks post spay! Millie is doing great!  She is consistently using pee pads (still not interested in the leash). She loves to be next to her person on the couch.  She is very sweet but very anxious still. She still prefers it when we’re home.

5/24/25-Today is 4 weeks since we had Millie come to our home. She sleeps through the night in her crate and stays out of the crate and hangs out in our Livingroom now during the day while we’re at work. She would probably do well with someone that’s home a little more because she does not like to be by herself for too long.  We are still working on pee pad training. She is starting to play with one of her toys and will run back and forth wagging her tail! She loves sleeping on my lap at night. Baby steps in the right direction!

5/18/25-Yesterday was three weeks since we had Millie come to our home. She sleeps through the night in her crate but isn’t a total fan during the day while we’re at work.  She would probably do well with someone that’s home a little more because she does not like to be by herself. She has some separation anxiety. Howls like a wolf, runs, and paces when I’m out is she is loose. We have an island in our kitchen that she runs around and I can’t catch her sometimes to get her in the crate. She wants to give in to us. She does a cute dance with her butt when she’s running away. Lol  We are having success with the pee pads. She only has a few pee accidents in her crate still & pretty much consistently goes pee on the pad. She eats her two meals a day and loves it! Coming from a commercial breeder, Millie will need someone with the understanding and patience that it will take time for her to warm up. We see gains every day! When I get her onto my lap, she breathes out a big sigh of relief that she can finally rest and relax.

5/20/25-One week post spay & doing great. She looks out the window and waits for me to come home. We are leaving her out of the crate now during the day and just have her gated in the living room. She is less stressed with having a smaller space. Millie also loves to cuddle. She still needs time to warm up but she will be such a loving lapdog for someone. She is ready to go home as of this Friday 5/23!

5/15/25-Millie continues to like chicken and cheese for her treats. When I lay down on the ground next to her, she puts her head on my head. She really is a love.

5/13/25-Millie did fine with her spay though it was scary for her being in a cage (probably reminds her of cage at breeder).  She had an ear infection and was treated. She’s not a fan of the cone so I gave her a break while she relaxed on my lap. She is a love. She follows us around but will walk away when we approach her. But she is walking away now and not running at least! When we’re seated on the ground, she’ll come over and give us a lick. Though she would not be bad with kids, the extra activity & stress from kids around would not be fair to her right now.

5/12/25-Where oh where has my lady gone?
Millie missed me when I left & stood up to watch out the window. She is starting to play and gets excited but will still run to her bed when we approach her. She loves her ears scratched and will give you kisses when you lean in. Awww.

5/9/25-Road trip!  Millie loves the car & a snuggle after the ride.

5/8/25-Big day!  First day for belly rubs!  Although she still hasn’t realized the benefits of bacon training bites, she sure is a lover of Manchego cheese (girl after my own heart)! Lol

5/5/25-Millie so wants to trust humans. Still runs, paces, and jumps to sudden movements and noises. She will get there with time & patience!

5/4/25-One week in with Millie, and she really is such a sweet dog. Although still very timid, she has warmed up to touch and really enjoys sitting on your lap and snuggling. Millie is definitely a lapdog! She’s showing signs of some separation anxiety, but eventually will settle down in her crate at bedtime and when we are away at work. House breaking is still an ongoing effort, but she did do her first #2 potty outside this week! She will be a great addition, someone’s family and looks forward to settling into her furr-ever home.

4/30/25-Millie is a love! It is beautiful to watch her slowly come out of her shell. I’m getting a few face licks. She is drinking water from a bowl and she’s eating small amounts of food. She went to pre-spay today & had her pre op and bloodwork. It went well and she is scheduled for her spay on Tuesday May 13. The possible ear mite diagnosis from her first vet visit was incorrect. She is mite free, but does have some dental work that will need to be addressed by her new owner at their cost.

4/29/25-Millie is warming up. Getting a few licks every day and she is starting to approach me. She likes to run around our fenced -In garden. Pre-op appointment for Spay is tomorrow.

4/26/25-Millie arrived at her foster home today. She paced, ran circles around our island, and ran from us for a while.  Finally resting. She’s exhausted.

04/25/25-Millie is a sweet 4-year-old female miniature poodle.  She came from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her overnight & transport volunteers. Her pre-spay appointment is Wednesday 4/30 & we hope to get her spay setup for asap. She is being treated for possible ear mites & may need a tooth

extracted, we will get that checked out during her spay too. Once she is spayed & we get to know her better she will be ready for her new home.
