5/24/25-Obie is such a joy! He can still be timid when approaching him while you are standing, but sitting down he comes right up for the attention & pets. He is so so sweet and happy.

5/18/25-Every morning Obie continues to wake up with a waging tail. Since his neuter, I haven’t used belly bands. He’s not marking anymore and only had a few accidents (that’s on me). He loves his bed and belly rubs. Still a little skittish when approaching but with time that will get better.  He now occasionally barks if the other dogs do. Lol He is ready for his new home!

5/13/25-Obie will start to what I call pancake to the floor sometimes when I put his leash on. I just sing to him and reassure him he’ll always be treated with love. He gets soooooo excited when I come home from work. It’s so so funny. Making great progress house breaking. I’m learning his routine. Eats like a champ and has been drinking water everyday now. Sleeps in his bed next to us all night. I think there’s even a smile when Obie sleeps. He’s the happiest guy…and will bring his forever family such joy. And guess who grabbed a slipper to play with. Toys too!

5/7/25-Happy to see Obie comfortable enough to join in on all the action now. He’s barked twice. Not sure if he even knew why…lol So far it was when he was with our other dogs. I think he’s learning from them. He’ll have it all down if he’s adopted to a family as an only dog. Lol

5/5/25-Guess who greeted me when I came home from work today? I’m grateful my retired husband is as committed as I am to fostering. He says Obie responds more and more everyday. He even did his business in the rain. Can’t wait until he find his forever family. Until then, he’s running with our pack!

5/4/25-Today was a turning point for Obie. He was venturing all over the house, licking faces with our other dogs, and sprinting to the back door after doing his business. He’s come so far in such a short time. His neuter is this Thursday & then he will be ready for his new home!

5/3/25-Obie wakes up every morning as if he’s on top of the world! Tail waging a mile a minute and prancing around everywhere. He’s living life to the fullest!! Yesterday he finally drank from the water bowl (many commercial breeder dogs don’t understand this).  He eats like a champ. Loves going outside. And is walking straight ahead instead of in circles like when he first arrived.

5/1/25-Obie has been with us for 5 days. He is the sweetest dog I’ve ever encountered (and we have 4 others). There’s something about an ex commercial breeder dog. They are at first overwhelmed by the freedom, but slowly lean right into your love. He now want us to give him rubs, and runs around outside like a crazy man. And he loves this bed. We help him in his crate,  no whining/crying/barking, comes out on his own.

We have a belly band one him just to discourage marking (as unneutered male breeder dog we do this) but he goes potty outside when we bring him out. We are learning his routine. So grateful to give this special boy a chance. He’s our first foster, but definitely won’t be our last.

4/30/25-Obie is coming out of his shell more and more everyday. Barked only once to say hi to one of our other dogs. Right now he still cowers a little when going up to him. He loves his little bed so I put his leash on/off there. Loves his belly and ears rubbed. Will come to us for attention. Wakes up so so happy every morning. Eats well. Working on drinking more water. Our yard is fully fenced. I’m using the leash in case his adopted family will use one.

04/25/25-Obie is a sweet 4-year-old male miniature poodle.  He came from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding him. He arrived safely into rescue today thanks to his overnight & transport volunteers. He has the cutest ears! He is being treated for an ear infection & may need a tooth extracted, we will get that checked out during his neuter too. His neuter is Thursday 5/8 & he will be ready to go home after that.
