7/29/25-More and more everyday Marlie’s personality is shining through, and what a total sweetheart she is. When Marlie arrived into rescue she was very shut down, suffering colitis, and very under weight. Since arrival she has gained 3 lbs and her diarrhea has improved immensely, although every few days we might have runny stools, but nothing like when she first arrived. Her coat now is shiny and healthy, she’s just beautiful inside and out. Marlie is still working on potty training, and I’d say she is 90% there with only an occasional accident. I attribute that to my not picking up on her signals. We are currently working with both being crated all night as well as being loose in the house with both my dogs. She’s so very happy being loose so she can cuddle in bed with them. Today a little mischief in her came out, and she had me laughing when I was folding clothes with her watching, she stole 1st 1 sock she placed gently in her bed, then returned to take another and again took her favorite squeaky toy and put it in her bed and was laying with them as proud as could be. She wagged her tail at me as I retrieved my socks and put them away and tolerated my short lecture on her thievery, then proceeded to give my nose tiny kisses. Her behavior and sweetness just makes my heart soar.
7/24/25-Marlie is home from her spay & resting. She is little but she’s gained a couple of pounds & still needs several more. It is challenging because she’s not a big eater. Whoever adopts her are very lucky people.
7/17/25-Little Miss Marlie arrived into rescue scared, super observant and very cautious, under weight yet very sweet natured. At the shelter she had bloody diarrhea and was not eating well. On arrival we started her on medication and a carefully planned diet and although it took a good week, she has fully formed stools and there is no visible signs of blood in her stools. Best part is she’s gaining weight and now eating all her food. I started her on Natural Balance Duck and brown rice limited ingredients for digestion issues, cooked human grade ground chicken, cranberry sauce and bananas. This girl loves her cranberry sauce and bananas, first thing she eats out of her bowl. We even had her spay date all set up, when she went into heat 1 week after arriving. She is being spayed however on 7/24 and that is also when we will get to know how much weight she’s gained. Temperament wise she is very sweet, loves to be petted and hugged and is now giving gentle little kisses on my nose. She’s on the quiet side, and shy, yet loves the company and comfort of my dogs. When relaxing in the sunroom/kitchen I find her cuddled up napping with my dogs and actually seems to need to be touching them. Marlie has learned to follow me everywhere like my own dogs do, but she is also fine separate from me. She is a dog though that definitely needs another dog or multiple dogs, that’s when she is the happiest. She is quiet in her crate, but still needs a nudge to go in. So stay tuned as we get to know her even better.
7/12/25-Marlie is doing great & today was her first time nibbling on a stuffed toy! Her spay date had to be changed though due to lack of doctors so now it is Thursday 7/24. She will be ready to go home the following week once she has a little time to recover.
6/30/25-Marlie is doing great & definitely a sweet girl. She’s actually playing with my boxer Greta & eating well. She’s just chilling on the deck with me & the dogs this morning, full belly and much more relaxed. Yesterday she was going to the bathroom a lot with diarrhea & lots of blood, but I think the meds are just starting to kick in and the bananas will help plus I’m going to feed her 3 times a day. Marlie also likes Chobani vanilla Greek yogurt. Lol Marlie ate a good lunch with kibble and scrambled eggs & a dose of antibiotics, she’s only pooped 2 times today, so I think we are making progress.
6/29/25-Marlie has arrived to her foster home today. Intros went very well with Marlie & the other 3 dogs here & is doing great with them all. One of her overnight volunteers said Marlie was very chill so I had no doubt all would be fine. They also said Marlie met their cat & when she got too close to sniff the cat it scared her & Marlie only jumped back (not attacking or chasing). For this reason & that most ex breeder dogs are good with cats, we think Marlie will be ok with dog savvy cats. She loves the doggie kiddie pool already & ate an awesome diner including with some cranberry sauce bananas, ground chicken and her medication hidden in Velveeta cheese. She loved it all.
06/27/25-Marlie is a beautiful 4 year old female boxer that came in today from a commercial breeder as they just didn’t need her anymore. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport & overnight foster volunteers. We were told she had some bloody diarrhea that we will put her on medication to clear up & we have medication for her ear infections too. She has her spay on Monday 7/14 & will be ready to go home soon after that.
