7/30/25-A little Hubba Bubba update! He’s doing well. He’s always happy to see me and is learning to sit and hold still while I let him out of his crate, instead of pawing at the door and jumping around. He’s also learned he isn’t allowed in the basement, even if the door is left open (cough cough my husband) and will stand at the top of the stairs and wait for me. He hasn’t had any accidents or dribbling in the house. He knows that when my boxer Roadie rings the dog doorbell, that they’re all going to go outside! Lol Also he’s not afraid of the magnetic screen door thing any more, he leaps through it. He doesn’t really understand what’s going on when my boxer girl Macha and Roadie are wrestling and playing bitey face, but it seems like he’s trying to figure it out.
7/28/25-We now have Hubba Bubba’s neuter scheduled for Tuesday 8/5 so he will be ready to go home by the end of that week.
7/24/25-Hubba Bubba arrived yesterday afternoon. He is a great travelling companion; he laid right down after getting his wiggles and licks out and slept for the hour+ ride home. He L O V E S the car. After some initial nervousness around my two nut jobs (boxers) when they first met, he has settled in nicely. We are working on pottying outside but he has a UTI so it’s been hit or miss. He’s rocking the “man pants” fashion statement! Lol Hubba loves a good blankie and was perfectly comfortable overnight in a crate. He went right in as soon as I set it up! He’s eating and drinking fine. Hubba Bubba is completely at ease with my 10 and 14 year old kids. He doesn’t care about cats & small dogs. We’ve discovered that Hubba Bubba knows “sit” and “out” (leave the room) so far. He’s a gentle guy looking for a new family to love. We decided he can stay here at our foster home until he is ready to go home. We are waiting to hear back on getting his neuter done as they can. We won’t be matching Hubba Bubba up to his new home until he is neutered.
7/23/25-Hubba Bubba is at his temporary foster home! He was a little unsure of thing 1&2(my boxers) unexpectedly running up to him so we have them separated for now so that we can do slow introductions.
He is a LOVER and wants to be in your lap and kissing on you. He seems to love car rides, he jumped back in the van every time I opened the van doors once we were home. Lol He’s a great, quiet, calm traveling companion. If you’re looking for a “tiny” lap dog, Hubba Bubba says he can do that! I set up the crate, put some blankets in it, and he walked right in for bed. He’s whining about it though! Lol He loves blankets. He appears to have a urinary tract infection so we will be starting him on antibiotics asap. We are also trying to get a neuter appointment as soon as we can. Once he is neutered he will be ready to go to his new home.
7/23/25-Thanks to our volunteers Hubba Bubba has broke free from the shelter. He came in as a stray along with Duke & no one claimed them. We estimate both to be about 2 years old & they are very sweet boys!
Comments from his pickup volunteer: “We went for a walk. About a mile. Did ok on the leash. Definitely interested in squirrels. Other than that, he was controlled. Didn’t get tangled up with my dog Gigi. Definitely can use some work, but easy to walk. Seems fine with cats! Gus is my go-to cat tester. Hubba Bubba stepped on my 3-legged cat and she hissed and swatted. No reaction from Hubba Bubba. Just moved away.”
