10/30/25-Violet has been with us for two months and has come such a long way. In the morning she loves to play and jump all over me. Violet prefers that you are lying down when you touch & pet her. She still runs & plays keep away when she thinks you’re going to try to catch her. The past three days I’ve grabbed her during play to try to desensitize her.  After about 2 seconds of fear she relaxes and goes with the flow. Once you have her you can do what you want to her and she isn’t afraid, she just doesn’t like the catch/grab. Other than that Violet loves her people and the other animals (dogs & cats) in our home. She follows us everywhere. She really is a happy girl.

9/28/25-Violet came into rescue skittish & unsure of her new world. She has come a long way but still has her quirks. She still won’t let you stand over her and pick her up but she has no problem walking all over you when you are seated.  She will hop up on the couch and greet visitors (because they are in her spot lol). She will let them pet her as long as they don’t grab at her. Violet goes out to the bathroom but also uses the inside potty pad. She sleeps in bed with us at night. She loves other dogs and even tries to make friends with the very grumpy cat that resides at her foster home.  I will admit that I was hesitant to take Violet in but she has stolen our hearts.

9/5/25-Violet has been with us for four days now. She is being fostered with Berkely and two resident dogs and their grumpy cat. She is such a sweet girl. She runs in and out of the house with the other dogs. Violet was most likely a caged kept commercial breeder dog. As in most cage kept small dogs, she is terrified of me bending over and reaching for her,  What do I do about it? Simple.. I don’t grab at her. She comes on the couch and bed herself seeking attention. Violet loves to be petted. For that reason Violet would love a fenced in yard, if possible. As I I get to know her better we will be working on leash walking.

9/6/25-We heard Violet’s DNA results came back and she is actually a Cockapoo! She is 80% mini poodle and 20% cocker spaniel, so a cockapoo but very heavy on the poodle genetic side. This is why when she first came in & before her shave down she looked like a wooly lamb.

9/3/25-Violet is adjusting well to her new foster home. Like most little mill dogs she doesn’t like you to bend over and reach for her. Violet is more than happy to hop upon the couch or bed to cuddle with you though. She runs in and out of the house with the other dogs to our fenced yard. She also comes running when I call her. I’ve introduced  her to the joy of cheese hotdogs and she is now eating out of my hand.  She doesn’t walk on a leash yet so she prefers a fenced yard but it’s not necessary. I’m having her drag a leash around with her hoping that eventually I can work on leash training her soon. She loves to hang on the couch or bed with my husband too.

9/2/25-Sweet Violet is now back with us after just over a month in her new home.  When Violet arrived into rescue from the commercial breeder we were told she was a mini poodle. We are now waiting on her DNA results because her new family was having severe allergy problems but they are usually fine with poodles. We know we can’t always trust what those DNA kits say but it may give us some insights into her breed.  We think she may really be a cavapoo or cockapoo & the breeder switched dogs when passed her to our contacts (rarely happens but does at times).

Her last owner said she got along very well with their 2yr old female mini poodle & followed her around the house.  She also said Violet is very very sweet and her children (12 & 16 yr olds) were absolutely in love with her. They were devastated at having to give her up but for their health they had to.

This girl would be ideal for a quiet home. She loves to lay on the couch with the other dogs and follows me around the house. I’m looking forward to getting to know her better.

She is also not a fan of a certain TV show “Wednesday” & had words with the tv. Lol  We have no idea why but she settled and watched it any ways.
