10/22/25-Mimi is doing well and settling in. She is a nervous little pup but once she trusts you, you will be her best friend. She is pretty easily won over with treats. We are working on getting her consistently housebroken as we have now had a few accidents otherwise Mimi has settled in pretty easily. We did encounter a few nights of some barking in the crate but that seems to have subsided as she settled in. Mimi really is a lovable little pup with those she knows and trusts. If she is nervous, she will either put herself in her crate or find another “safe” spot. Once she adjusts to the situation a bit she will slowly and carefully check out new situations/visitors etc. On a few occasions I’ve come home to find Mimi shaking in her crate. The other dogs are calm and quiet, our security cameras haven’t picked up any loud noises or people ringing the bell etc she quickly settles once we are home so I’m not sure what is causing the nervousness as 99% of the time she is fine. I thought we had worked through this but it happened again today so figured it was worth noting. Previous owner had her on anxiety meds at once point so I’m wondering if this was part of the reason why but I’m also confused as it seems to happen very randomly. Hopefully this will resolve with a bit more time. Mimi is the sweetest, most lovable pup. I will get more pictures soon!

10/7/25-Mimi had her vet visit yesterday and is now up to date on vaccines. She does have a mild heart murmur, the vet graded it 2 out of 6. He wasn’t concerned about it in the least and just said it is something to keep an eye on in the future and if she starts showing any cardiac symptoms medication could be recommended in the future. Mimi’s previous vet graded the murmur as level 3 (it is all subjective based on vet listening to heart unless have more extensive testing). We also had the lump on her side checked and he isn’t concerned. It is likely a sebaceous adenoma which is not cancerous and removal is only necessary if it’s causing problems/ripping open which it is not. It is about the size of a quarter.
Mimi is settling in and quickly getting used to our routine. She was very good at the vet. Still working on getting some good pictures of Mimi. She is always either on the move or napping/sunbathing. Lol

10/5/25-Mimosa aka Mimi came back to her foster home this past Friday for another round through NO fault of her own. So here is a synopsis of Mimi’s story.

Mimi originally came into rescue from a commercial breeder after they were done breeding her. She was adopted by someone who eventually received a career opportunity in New York City and was going to be traveling frequently so the decision was made to return her to rescue after almost 7 months.  Mimi was returned to her foster home and adopted again. After over 2 years she was surrendered again back to rescue due to financial issues, plus medical issues with two family members. She lived with a baby & 2 other kids & was great with them all.

Thankfully we were able to foster her again so at least she is familiar with her foster home and family.  When she was here the last time our boxer was a little bitty puppy and now, she’s a full-grown dog. Sometimes Mimi looks at her like she’s absolutely insane which is pretty much the truth! lol Mimi is doing very well considering all the changes. She’s getting back into our routine but can definitely be a bit timid at times. So far no accidents in the house and is very quiet and well behaved in the crate.  Mimi definitely needs another dog or two in her new home. She is much more comfortable and confident with a canine companion. Mimi has a vet appointment tomorrow to be brought up to date on shots and have a lump rechecked. More updates and new pictures coming soon.
