12/26/25-Spirit is doing well in her new foster home. She is on a good schedule and enjoys romping in the snow. She is a very happy girl. She is shy at first and needs to sniff your hand for a bit to know you are a friend. She has a lot of Boxer energy and loves to go out. She does very little barking. We are working on her crating while I am gone, as she has not been crate trained. It is a work in process, but she is doing OK so far. I give her some trazadone along with a frozen kong filled with kibble and peanut butter to help her learn about crate training with less anxiety.  She has a few treats already in her crate and a chew toy to keep her busy. When I come home she is sitting in her
crate watching me come in, never barks, just waiting for me to come and greet her. She hears other dogs in the hallway at my apartment and stops and listens, but doesn’t react to them. She sees them outside, but is easily redirected. She will need constant assurance and attention to detail as she proceeds. She is a kisser!

12/22/25-Sweet Spirit arrived yesterday to her new foster home & is settling in nicely. She should find her forever home quickly. She loves her people. Don’t hesitate to apply now if you would like Spirit to be a part of your family.

12/20/25-Unfortunately after 4 weeks in her new home Spirit is coming back tomorrow to find another home. She was adopted to a family with 3 young kids. Spirit loved the kids & the kids loved her, but she just played too rough for them. She would do better in a home with kids 8 or older that can better understand safely playing with big dogs. Her family was very sad to bring her back as they said Spirit is such a sweet girl. More updates soon from her new foster home. 
 
11/23/25–Spirit was adopted!

11/15/25-Spirit is a sweet 5 year old female boxer owner surrender that came into rescue today thanks to her transport volunteer. She lived with 2 other boxers & was given up as the older male boxer, her biological father, in the home fights with her all the time. Their owner could no longer handle them both together because of his own personal health reasons. He said Spirit is a really good dog with people and kids of all ages (raised with babies & up in the house). They also have cats & said she doesn’t bother them. Her owner said she is trained, walks beside him on trails, loves car rides & plays fetch. She is not crate trained & had full run of house and isn’t destructive. She is being spayed Tuesday 11/18 & will be ready to go home soon after.
