2/14/26-Fostering small breed ex commercial breeder dogs can be a challenge. These dogs most often live their whole life in a cage. The only time someone reaches for them it’s not gentle. Once we get them into rescue they are either terrified to come out of the cage or they come out of it terrified. Ash was a mix of both.  She arrived 8 weeks after giving birth & she is adapting very well. She follows the other dogs around now.  She uses dog stairs to get up and down on/off the bed and couch. She trusts me enough to let me pick her up but she doesn’t like it yet. She sleeps with us and is always looking to see what I’m doing . Every day I see signs that she is learning and happy.

2/5/26-Romie is making remarkable progress in the last 7 days since her rescue.  This evening Romie started to play with my cat.  Her tail was wagging so fast.  Tonight was the first time I heard her bark while trying to get the cat’s attention.  Romie still is scared of us & runs back to her kennel as soon as she makes eye contact with you. She also still shakes when you pick her up but it is taking less time for her to relax.  She sleeps in her kennel at night and the kennel is her safety spot when we are walking near her.  She is slowing venturing out to explore her surroundings.  She is healing nicely since her spay on Tuesday.

2/3/26-Romie did great with her spay today. She is back to her foster home trying to rest after her spay this morning.

2/2/26-A huge thank you to Ashley from Love Your Dog for taking an extremely matted dog and turning her into a beautiful lady. We don’t even recognize her as she looks so good! A big thank you to my daughter, who is a vet tech, for cleaning & plucking both of Romie’s ears. She removed a lot of debris. Romie should be feeling much better now.

1/31/26-Meet Romie, she is severely matted. Hopefully, we can get her groomed shortly without having to shave her completely. She is currently being treated for her ear infections. She is eating and drinking without any issues. Right now she tends to walk away from you as you approach her. No issues with the other dogs and cats in the home. She slept well in the penned in area. Looking forward to seeing how her personality develops after she decompress from her rescue, her matts are gone, and her ear infection heals.

01/30/26-Romie is a sweet 15 month old havanese from a commercial breeder as they just didn’t need her anymore. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. She has her pre-spay appointment Monday 2/2 & her spay on Tuesday 2/3. Once she is spayed & we get to know her a little bit she will be ready to go home.
