3/1/26-Captain Cupid Smoochington update.

Due to the blizzard last week, his neuter has been moved to 3/9.  In the meantime, he continues to settle in and show us more of his winning personality. He’s been accepted into the pug pack here. Totally in love with this sweetheart. He will be ready to go to his new home next week!

2/23/26-Cupid gave us a little scare last week. He stopped drinking water, wasn’t peeing, and had some loose stool, so we brought him to the vet right away. They were very glad we didn’t wait. He was catheterized to rule out any urinary blockage — all clear! No fever, and otherwise he looked great. He was sent home with probiotics, and we began adding water to his meals to be sure he stayed hydrated. On his shelter paperwork, it notes he tested positive for worms, was treated, and would have been started on Metronidazole if diarrhea continued. When he arrived to us, his stools were loose (common after deworming) but firmed up quickly the next day. After his vet visit, his stools worsened briefly, then began improving over the weekend. Due to the blizzard, his neuter was rescheduled from 2/23 to Monday 3/9 after that he will be ready to go home. With the delay, we started him on Metronidazole (along with his probiotics), and we’re happy to report his stools were normal this morning. The extra water in his food has helped, and he’s peeing normally again. Overall, he’s feeling good and acting like his happy, affectionate self.

Personality: This guy LOVES people and just wants to be by your side. He will make a deeply loyal companion to whoever he chooses as his person. In our house… that’s Mom. He is gentle and sweet. He’s pretty good about keeping all four paws on the floor but needs reminders when excitement gets the best of him.

Quirks (aka His Adorable “Security Detail” Mode): Mom is his #1 person. If there are shenanigans involving Mom — hugs, wrestling, laughter — he feels it is his duty to intervene. He paws at the “offender” as if to say: “Excuse me. Are you hurting my mom? I must supervise.” If Mom sleeps in, he stations himself at the bottom of the stairs and softly whines until she appears. Order restored. And if Mom steps into the bathroom? He’s on bear patrol.

Favorite Activities

• Mealtime! He is VERY food motivated. He’s picked up a bit of excited barking and jumping at meals (thanks to a resident dog influence 😅), but this is absolutely trainable.

• Chewing bones (gotta maintain that super-cute underbite and pearly whites).

• Ball chasing. He loves to chase — still working on the “bring it back” part.

• Walks. He walks proudly and gently on leash, taking in the neighborhood like the captain he is.

Energy Level: Low to moderate. We initially thought he had higher puppy energy, but it turns out he was just settling in. Now that he feels safe, he’s quite chill.

Training: Cupid knows: SIT, NO, OFF, LEAVE IT, STAY. He’s smart and very food motivated, which makes training a breeze.

Housebreaking: About 90%. We expect even more gentlemanly behavior after his neuter.

Crate: Crating isn’t his favorite. He has been crated briefly and did settle after some protest. The one messy crate incident coincided with his tummy troubles (not his fault). He happily goes into his crate to eat when we put his food there, though we haven’t been closing the door during meals.

Captain Cupid Smoochington is affectionate, loyal, food-motivated, and happiest when he’s close to his person. He’s going to make someone a very devoted best friend.

2/15/26-Hi everyone! My name is Captain Cupid Smoochington. Former stray, current professional best friend. I came in a little skinny (22#) but I’m fixing that (I LOVE food). I love people, kids, babies, and other dogs — basically if you have a heartbeat I’m interested in joining your family. I’m affectionate, curious, and happiest right in the middle of the pack. Need a work from home buddy? Need a lookout while you go potty? Need a couch buddy to watch to Olympics with? I’m your guy! All i want is to be with you and be part of the family.
✔️ Sleeps all night in bed with you – i will keep your feet toasty and warm
✔️ Potty outside (90% in only 3 days! I’ll be much better at this after my neuter)
✔️ Knows sit, stay & off
✔️ Quiet (not a big barker unless its food time – then my pug sister taught me a naughty habit of barking to show how excited i am)
✔️ Very trainable – im food motivated and love cheesy rewards for being a good boy
🚧 Working on not jumping when excited
Bonus – I have the softest fur ever and an underbite — sometimes my lip gets stuck on my teeth and humans lose their minds over it. Im absolutely adorable. Getting neutered 2/23 and then I’m ready for my furever home. Apply to adopt me.

2/12/26-Meet our new foster pup, Captain Cupid Smoochington — your future best friend and professional heart-stealer! This adorable 1–2 year old male puggle was recently picked up as a stray and arrived a bit underweight… but you’d never know it from his spirit! Captain Cupid is pure joy wrapped in floppy ears and puppy energy.
He is:
💖 Happy, wiggly, and full of life
💖 A champion hug-giver and kiss distributor
💖 Wonderful with people and kids (he already adores his 9-year-old kid friend!)
💖 Eager to make doggy friends — he really wants to play with the resident pug pack (they’re still deciding if they can keep up with his enthusiasm 😄)
He’s settling in beautifully:
✔️ Great first night
✔️ Slept snuggled in bed with his foster mom
✔️ No accidents
✔️ Ate a full, happy breakfast
✔️ 100% certified good boy
Captain Cupid is soaking up love and getting ready to find the forever home he deserves — one filled with cuddles, playtime, and plenty of smooches. Available for adoption after his neuter on 2/23. If you’re looking for a joyful, affectionate, people-loving pup who will fill your home with wiggles and kisses… Captain Cupid Smoochington is ready to steal your heart.

2/11/26-Captain Cupid Smoochington is an about 1-2 year old we think puggle (pug/beagle mix) that was a stray to a great shelter we work with. He came into rescue today thanks to a dedicated volunteer. His neuter is Monday 2/23 & he will be ready for his new home then.
