4/20/26-Our beautiful Mildred is experiencing some dry skin. We think now that she’s on a better food than likely what commercial breeder had her on & maybe some moisturizer shampoo or oil supplements will help with this.
4/19/26-Model alert! After a couple of days here is what we know about Mildred. She loves being pet, especially around her face. She is obsessed with my 5 year old kids and will follow them all over the house. We went for our first walk and overall she did really great! She only pulled once when my son yelled, “squirrel!” and started chasing it. She loves toys, even ones that don’t belong to her, so we have to make sure all of the kids toys are picked up so she doesn’t get into them. Mildred is a little mischievous right now pulling blankets off the couch and potholders of the kitchen counter. She gets a little close while we are eating at the dining room table, but eventually lays down after some redirection. We have had a couple of accidents in the house, but have also been successful going outside as well. She did not like being out in the rain, which is why I believe last night’s accidents happened. Mildred will go into her crate to sleep on her own when she’s tired, but takes a lot of coaxing if I’m getting her in when I leave or for bed. Once in, she relaxes right away and sleeps all night. My cats still haven’t come out to meet her, but hopefully we can do an introduction soon to see how she does. Overall she is such a happy girl who is adjusting well and will be a great addition to any family!
4/17/26-Freedom Friday for Ms Mildred! Our newest foster girl, Mildred, joined us this evening. She just arrived and is sniffing all over my house, yard and kids. Such a sweetie pie so far! The kids and I are already so in love with her. More to come as we get to know her.
04/17/26-Mildred is a gorgeous 5 year old female boxer that came in today from a commercial breeder as they just didn’t need her anymore. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to his transport volunteers. Her initial vet check as she came into rescue noted she may have a low grade 2 heart murmur (often there is no murmur & just stress of coming in from breeder, anxious & noise etc). We will get a 2nd check on her heart at our other vet during her pre-spay appointment. She has her pre-spay checkup on Friday 4/24 & we will get a spay date after that. Once she is spayed & we grt to know her a little more she will be ready for her new home.
