5/8/26-This handsome snuggle bug is still doing great! He is the sweetest, well tempered dog. He is great with other dogs. I can see he would do fine with children. He hasn’t shown any resource guarding or behaviors that would concern me. I have a reactive dog and he’s done very well with her & they play great together. He truly has a phenomenal temperament. Unlike his owner stated, here he is a barker. He is protective of his surroundings & barks at the slightest noise or movement. Some of this may be due to adjustments to a new environment but in case not it is good to know for his new home in case they cannot have barking.
5/6/26-Gus is such a big, lovable baby! He was a bit upset with me last night after taking him to get neutered, but has forgiven me as of today! Lol His neuter went well but the vet thought heard a possible grade 3 heart murmur. Since all prior vet paperwork had no mention of a murmur before, it is likely a lower grade 2. He will need to be watched & may need to be checked further post adoption if new owner’s vet also hears a murmur. He was heartworm negative but did have yeast infection in his ears he was treated for. As of now he is still a bit of a marker in the house. Since he just was neutered this should subside & with adjustment to his new surroundings.
5/5/26-Gus is settling in nicely at his foster home! This boy is a sweet, gentle soul who just wants to smother you with all his love. He arrived on Saturday and has already made himself right at home. He is a gentle soul who simply wants to shower his person with love! He has enjoyed exploring the neighborhood and greeting all of my neighbors. He’s your typical young puppy — curious, energetic, and very interested in his surroundings. He would do best with a Martingale/no slip type collar, as he is a strong puller and highly distracted by nature’s little creatures. I am currently working on reinforcing his sit and stay commands. He understands basic commands but still lacks the focus to maintain them for more than a few seconds. With consistency and continued obedience training, he should be very trainable. Gus does enjoy counter surfing, so be sure not to leave snacks unattended. He is going to make someone very happy and has truly been a pleasure to foster!
5/2/26-Gus is a gorgeous 2 year old male boxer owner surrender who came into rescue today thanks to his transport volunteers. Unfortunately the apartment his owner was renting since he got Gus changed their rules & no longer allow dogs so he couldn’t keep him. His owner said Gus is a great dog – gets along wonderfully with other family members’ dogs & children age 4 & up (no history with younger kids) & was good with cats when he lived with them. He also states Gus is very playful & leans submissive, very good boy & does not even bark when someone comes to the door.
Here are some comments from his transport volunteers:
“He was a very good passenger. Gave kisses as payment.”
“An incredibly sweet and energetic big boy. We had so much fun with him and his silly antics this afternoon.”
“he’s so beautiful, cute markings on his head. He has the softest muzzle and is the goodest boy”
“Absolute Doll. he made us laugh during his transport!”
