6/2/26-Memphis had a vet appointment today and got her boosters & now weighs 14.3 pounds. She was 12.7 pounds when she arrived with her spine very visible and her skin showing the signs of a poor diet. Memphis is very good at doing her business outside as long as she is let out on a regular basis. She very rarely barks. My 6 year old granddaughter sat on the grass and Memphis went over to her to check her out. Memphis was okay with several of my family members being outside with her. Memphis considers herself part of the pack and does not bother my two cats. Memphis loves to sleep on my bed at night and loves to be with you on your lap during the day. She still reacts to the slightest movement of reaching for a phone, glass, pen, remote etc. One can only imagine what she went through during the first 5 years of her life. Memphis knows her name now and will come when she is called. She still tends to shrink down in fear when you try to pick her up. She loves to be reassured. Memphis be spayed on Monday June 8th and will ready for her furever home shortly after she heals. Total lap dog this girl she would sit on your lap all day if you let her. Memphis is a calm personality so if your looking for a very sweet girl this is your dog.
5/17/26-Memphis is starting to explore the yard on her own. She now jumps on a stool and “guards us” from anything she sees like squirrels, dogs, or people walking on the sidewalk. Lol This is the only time she barks. She spends most of her time either sitting with me or my husband. Once in a while she will sit in a chair by herself. I tried to take this photo while she was sprawled out sleeping but she heard me. BUSTED!
5/11/26-Memphis was not able to be spayed today. Her next vet appointment is Tuesday 6/2 & then we will see when she can be spayed.
5/10/26-Memphis is such a sweet girl. She is shy but is definitely a lap dog. Wants to be petted all day long. Memphis loves to be around you. Right now she tends to scare at most sudden sounds like a cough, a water bottle opening, or the sound of the movement of anything on a table. She will hide her head in your armpit and she always wants to be petted. One can only imagine what trauma this beautiful and extremely sweet lady has gone through for the first few years of her life. She sleeps well in a crate at night as long as someone is in the room too. The only time she barked was when she was in the kitchen by herself. She would not come out of the kitchen on her own. She does not interact with my other cats or dogs yet, but it has only been a few days since she came here. Memphis is doing great on doing her business outside but does not let you know ahead of time. You just need to let her outside on a regular basis. Memphis does well riding in a car and she does not mind the leash. She will be available soon after her spay on May 11th.
5/6/26-Memphis is an about 5 1/2 year old female miniature schnauzer. She came in today from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue thanks to her transport volunteers. She is sweet and shy and has the most soulful eyes I have ever seen. She arrived today with the worst case of dandruff I have seen in a dog. She got a bath, good scrubbing and a haircut immediately. We are putting her on a healthy diet and she has her pre-spay vet appointment on Friday 5/8 & spay on Monday 5/11. Once she is spayed & we get to know her & her needs better she will be ready for her new home.
