5/31/26-Sir Winston Update. Winston is very happy to enjoy his meals in his crate, just like the rest of the pug pack. He’s also started ringing the bell when he wants to go outside!
At this stage, ringing the bell doesn’t always mean he needs to potty, but it’s a wonderful sign for his future forever family. Bell training is a great way to help dogs communicate when they’d like to go outside, especially if you don’t have a doggie door. Winston is learning, gaining confidence, and making progress every day. Great job, Winston!

5/30/26-Winston is doing great! He’s settling into home life, getting more comfortable with his surroundings, and has become very enthusiastic about mealtime. He feels most relaxed when his people are nearby and in sight, and he’s proving to be quite the affectionate little gentleman, handing out plenty of sweet, gentle kisses. He’s also making progress with housebreaking, and now that he’s been neutered, we’re confident he’s well on his way to polishing his manners. In the meantime, he’s sporting a dashingly stylish belly band that suits him quite well. Winston is searching for his forever home. He has a playful puppy spirit and would do great with a family with children, another dog, or both to help him burn off some energy and enjoy life’s adventures. One of his favorite games is being chased around the kitchen island by our daughter, and his adorable little prance is guaranteed to make you smile. That happy prance says it all—Winston is so grateful to be in a home, surrounded by love, and far from shelter life. Now all he needs is a family of his own.

(Since I’m still a baby I need a home with someone home more often. Ex: work at home, retired, at home parent, work opposite, etc)

5/27/26-Another volunteer picked up Winston from his neuter yesterday and here is what she said about him:  He was a good boy overnight. I’m going to be transporting him to his new foster home tonight after work.  He is really going to do well with her pack of little dogs! He is super cute, has the best little bouncing prance you ever did see, and really just wants to play. I think he is a little nervous but who wouldn’t be at such a young age after all he’s been through in a short period of time!?  He sticks around outside and actually has a pretty good recall, loves whistles!!

5/28/26-Sir Winston is doing great after his neuter. He slept through the night in his crate and was thrilled to see everyone this morning. He didn’t eat much breakfast, but a little is better than nothing. He’s slowly learning to trust us and even ate a few bites from our hands this morning. Sir Winston is curious about his new pack, loves exploring his surroundings, and is starting to settle into foster life very nicely.

5/23/26-Nothing but top shelf confidence coming from little Winston. This tiny supervisor prefers to sit on the back of the couch, monitoring household activities from his executive perch. Someone has to keep us all in line! Today’s update: Winston is definitely starting to feel more at home. He’s begun to bark to alert us to “intruders” or aka the almost hourly Amazon deliveries. Don’t judge me! There’s a “serious”watchdog announcement at first, followed immediately by lots of tail wags, just in case treats are being offered. Honestly, we’re pretty sure he could be bribed with snacks, but we’re taking it as a great sign that he’s getting more comfortable every day, and we love to see it

5/21/26-Winston Update! In the few days we’ve spent with Winston, we’ve learned so much about this sweet little guy, in addition to the fact that he absolutely loves every person and dog he meets! Winston already knows some basic commands, including sit and paw, and we’ve even gotten a few successful downs. Whether he fully knows the command or just decides the treats are taking too long and lies down anyway is still up for debate! When it’s playtime, Winston is all in! He loves a good game of tug of war and has a special fondness for soft toys that make those irresistible crinkle sounds. And walks? Did someone say WALK?! Winston is ready to go! He absolutely loves getting outside to explore the world around him. Every new smell, sight, and adventure is exciting for this curious boy. Car rides are going well, too. It takes him a few miles to settle in, but once he does, he’s a great passenger. We’ve only taken a couple of rides so far, but he’s already making progress. Winston also handled a trip to Home Depot like a champ! The noise, people, and activity didn’t bother him one bit—he was too busy checking out every aisle and taking it all in. We’re working hard on potty training, and Winston is catching on quickly. He’s learning that pottying outside earns delicious treats, while inside earns… absolutely nothing. Lol Keeping him on a schedule seems to be helping, and he’s eager to learn. And if you’re looking for the way to Winston’s heart, we’ve discovered the answer: frozen pumpkin! It’s officially one of his favorite treats. Chicken and beef both tied for second place. Winston is a happy, affectionate, playful little guy who’s ready to find a forever family to continue helping him learn, explore, and be loved

5/20/26-Meet Winston – Your New Best Friend! Winston is searching for his forever home, and whoever adopts him is in for a treat!
This handsome little guy is everything you’d expect from a Yorkie: affectionate, playful, and full of personality. Winston absolutely adores people and thrives on attention, cuddles, and being part of the action. He also loves playing with other dogs and would be happy in a home with a playful canine companion to share adventures and zoomies with or even going on regular play dates.
Winston’s Highlights: Loves people and attention. Friendly and playful with other dogs. Affectionate and fun-loving personality. Cat tested, showed a little curiosity but was largely uninterested. Would thrive with another playful pup in the home. Winston is currently enjoying foster life, but he’s ready for something even better, a family of his very own. Could you be the one to give this sweet boy the happily-ever-after he deserves?

5/18/26-Sir Winston is a an adorable, sweet about 7 month old Yorkshire terrier boy that arrived today thanks to his transport volunteer. He was a stray to a shelter & no one claimed him. Originally the shelter thought he was about 2 years old but the vet commented that he has new teeth coming in so they think he could be just 7 months! He has his neuter appointment on Tuesday 5/26 and then he will be ready for his new home.

Comments from his foster home: When your foster pup climbs into your lap short of two hours after meeting him, snuggles in, and falls asleep snoring on you. This is what it’s all about. Providing a safe environment for these babies to decompress and learn what a healthy life and love are all about. We can’t change the past, but we sure can change his future. Welcome Winston! We’re looking forward to learning more about you. This handsome young Yorkie will be available for adoption soon.
