8/28/26-Taco had an amazing day. His first trip to Petsmart and he was so well behaved. He did not bark at any dogs. Taco tends to be dog selective he likes some he hates some. He them hung out with me for the day at work. It’s a bowling alley and it is loud but Taco doesn’t seem to mind. He loves people and he thinks they deserve the honor or petting him. As he settles in his personality is coming out . He is a real sweetheart & he has great recall when you tell him to come, he comes trotting over to you.
8/27/26-Taco and Teddy are both sitting in my lap together without incident . They run together to play. It’s still a no go with Olivia my Yorkie.
8/25/26-Taco is a work in progress. I wish I knew what he was thinking . I am still trying to work with him because he is definitely dog selective. I leash Taco in the house for safety when he is around my Yorkie. He is perfectly fine with my Silky Terrier. All three can sit in the same room and watch TV. Taco’s dislike of Olivia is unpredictable at times they wag tails at each other through the gate. Taco listens and takes correction well. He loves everyone he meets. When on his own he is a very good boy. He goes with me to work and greets everyone who comes into the office. If you are wanting only one dog in your life Taco would be perfect .
8/23/26-A volunteer came over with her french bulldog today & Taco was fine with her. However throughout the day he beat up my yorkie girl 3 times. The only saving grace is Taco is wearing a cone after his neuter so he couldn’t actually bite her. Taco unfortunately has to be an only dog in his new home as he is too unpredictable with other dogs. I am keeping him completely separate now from my dogs.
8/21/26-Taco has been with me for 7 days now and here is what I have learned about him so far. Taco is a very happy boy, friendly with people and greets them happily at the gate. he plays great with kids even a (dog savvy) 4 year old.
Taco is an alpha or is trying to be and in my house that has been a problem, I already have an alpha. My second dog is super submissive and there are no issues between the two.
Taco believes the dog bed on my bed belongs to him and not my dog who has been using it for the past 8 years. I have been making the correction and moving taco from the bed and crating him. I have been keeping a close eye on taco’s body language and making corrections before a situation arises. He does take correction well. I don’t want to label taco an only dog. I am working with him and hoping once he feels safe he will no longer need the control he is pushing for. He spent over a month in a shelter as a stray. So I’m treating this as he just got out of jail and will adjust. Taco also has many good qualities and I don’t want to make him sound like a bad dog because he is not. I just want to make sure he is matched with the proper home so he isn’t uprooted again. Taco is very friendly, loves to sit with you. He is great to groom.
8/20/26-Taco is doing great after his neuter. He greats alone ok with my two dogs and one cat. Taco is learning his place in our pack. He shows some signs of an alpha personality which we are working on. He sleeps in his crate at night until he learns his place on my bed with my 2 dogs.
8/17/26-Taco is being fostered with a 8 year old Yorkshire terrier & 2 year old Silky terrier that he loves. Taco arrived on Saturday with a 2-3 year old stray Lhapsa Apso named Henry(another foster dog). We are not sure if it’s because they are both intact males, but Taco turned into a Tasmanian Devil & constantly attacked only Henry. Once we sent Henry off to his foster home my well behaved guy Taco reappeared. Taco has very long hair & he sat for an hour while I detangled it. He is also great in the tub.
8/15/26-Taco is a beautiful male we think is a Silky terrier (or maybe Yorkshire terrier). Without his new owner doing a DNA test we don’t know for sure. He was a stray to a great shelter we work with & came into rescue today. The shelter estimated him to be about 5 years old but 2 different vets estimated him to be closer to 2 years old. He will be have his pre-neuter appointment next Tuesday & neutered Wednesday 8/19. Once we get to know him better he will be ready for his new home.
