7/04/23-Hello! I have happy and sad news!
I got my cast off and I’m up to 13.7 pounds! The sad news is that I won’t see all my friends at the vet anymore! I have seen them every week since I fell so I really had made friends.
I have some spots where my cast rubbed on my leg that need some ointment on them twice a day and I have to wear a cone to so I don’t lick it. The cone is ENOURMOUS…but that way I can’t lick it.
Also my foster mom keeps stretching my leg and pushing on my paw…I don’t like it but I let her do it. I always get a snuggle afterward!  Right now I haven’t used my leg much but I do try to itch with it which I didn’t before.
I’m so excited to run around and play with my foster dog brother! I also met some other dog friends and got to play with them too!
Just thought I would let you know what’s going on with me & I’m able & ready to go to my new home!
Gnocchi

7/03/23-Gnocchi had a great vet visit today & finally got his cast off. He is going to need light leash walking & some physical therapy on his leg (3 short exercises) for a bit to help him get back to using his leg more & strengthening it. The PT will just need done by his new owners at home a couple times a day. He also has a topical antibiotic to put on a sore spot from where his cast was rubbing. Gnocchi will need to continue to wear a cone until this heals so he doesn’t irritate it more. He is now ready to go home to someone willing to help him continue to heal from his broken leg.

6/27/23-Gnocchi has follow up x-rays on Monday 7/3 and fingers crossed we might be done. Yesterday I got to see last weeks x-rays and was able to compare them side by side and his leg is clearly healing so that’s good!! More updates next week on this cutie.

6/21/23-Hello Everyone! I had a follow up appointment this week and I need a couple of more weeks with my cast. On Monday they did follow up x-rays and they say I need at least 2 more weeks. My next x-rays are going to be the week of the 4th of July to see what next steps are & when I can go to a new home.  Last week my cast fell off and I really didn’t want to step on my leg-so I think the Drs did the right thing! I have discovered toys and figured out how to pull the squeaker out of squeeky toys! I’m tired of being in my crate and when I go potty I try to visit the neighbors! I like kongs with peanut butter-they are yummy. I have also learned how to eat in my crate-I have less distractions there and eat right away! If I don’t eat in my crate it takes me all day to eat just my breakfast! I still don’t show that I’m in pain and if you didn’t know my leg was broken you would think that I am just a puppy! Hope to meet you soon!

6/13/23-Hey All! Just me Gnocchi checking in!
I’ve had my cast updated every week since I fell and this week I have grown out of the rigid splint. My follow up X rays were put off another week until next Tuesday the 20th and hopefully I get to be out of my cast for good! After that visit they will know if it’s time for me to find my new home or not!  Other than my cast, I am a totally normal puppy! I have started playing with my foster brother and I like to try to treat the foster cat like a dog! Sometimes I need to do my business on a leash because I really want to run around!  I’m kind of like a shark right now cause I’m teething but I like to chew on bones. One of my favorite parts of the day is when I get to sit on the couch and have a dental treat before bed.
I sleep through the night from about 10pm to 5am. Right now I don’t really have accidents in the house but that’s because I need to be in the crate most of the time because of my leg. I don’t have a lot of time in the house on my own. While I wish I could have less time in my crate, I’m don’t always mind it and I don’t have accidents in there! I’m looking forward to meeting a new family soon! My foster family loves me and likes to play with me but they know I’m looking for my forever family. Talk to you soon!

5/29/23-Hey All! Just checking in! I got a new cast wrap this week. My old one was just dirty, nothing wrong with it. I am still peppy as any puppy can be! I tried greenies this week-those are great and since I lay down to chew them I get to stay out of my crate! I love to eat and drink and since I’m supposed to be in my crate if I’m not eating, drinking or going to the bathroom. I have gotten really good at telling my foster mom when I need to get out of my crate for a bathroom break. I just use my bark! When I have been in there a while and I won’t calm down-then she knows.  In two more weeks I can get new x-rays and find out when I can get my cast off. Hope to meet my new family soon! Gnocchi

5/25/23-The vet called back yesterday & had the orthopedic specialist look at Gnocchi’s X- rays. They feel he can just be splinted for 4 weeks & re-checked after that to see how his leg is healing. They said puppies generally heal very fast so we are hoping for the best!

5/24/23-Hi! I’m Gnocchi-I’ve had a bit of a rough week! I fell and broke my leg, but don’t you worry, I’m still my peppy self. My foster mom is having a hard time keeping me low key while I’m healing. I am learning to be alone in my crate at night and when I eat my food and I get calmer in my crate quicker and quicker.
I am learning all sorts of new things. I have met a big dog and a cat. They don’t really want to play with me yet but I want to smell them and say hello! I’m not scared! Before I fell, I was trying to do the 2-3 stairs at my foster house. I can go up ok but down is a little scarier, I can do it but I take my time figuring it out.
I like to chew cardboard and leaves and sticks! I am learning to whine to let my foster mom know that I need to go out too! It seems to be working! I’m waiting to see the orthopedic specialist to see what next steps are for me. In meantime I’m not available for adoption for at least several weeks.

5/19/23-Gnocchi is an adorable 10 week old mini labradoodle (miniature poodle/Labrador retriever). He was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as he just got too old to sell. He arrived safely into rescue yesterday thanks to his transport & overnight volunteers. We estimate he will be about 35 lbs full grown. This cutie won’t be here long!
