6/12/23-Brutus arrived at our house yesterday seeming very quiet and nervous, as was to be expected after a long ride and several new faces along the way. But after getting acquainted with my pack of dogs, his puppy side emerged after just a few minutes & started bouncing around like a little jackrabbit!  He’s a small boy with lots of typical young boxer energy and so is constantly burning off calories (we all should be so lucky!).  We hope to fatten him up a bit this week – and boy does he love his food!  This boy is as sweet as they come but he needs training.  He is very curious, jumps on everything, and is quite the counter surfer so puppy-proofing and structured, consistent training will be essential so he can be the bestest boy!!  He’s both food & praise motivated so this will help reinforce behaviors we want to see.  Despite his size, he’s strong and pulls on his collar/leash but we will be working on leash training, and I may try a front clip harness too.  He quickly & easily goes into his crate for food & treats but doesn’t like hanging out in there for too long.  He LOVES people and dogs and really, all he wants in life is to play and cuddle (oh and eat!).  And one last thing for now…. he has the most perfect boxer nub I’ve ever seen!

06/11/23-Brutus is a cute 8 month old boxer surrendered by his owner. They made the very difficult decision to have him find another home as they were starting a new job & were going to be gone too much. He arrived safely into rescue thanks to his transport volunteers. Brutus is going to vet tomorrow for his neuter & will be ready to go home after that.
