9/5/23-Mugsy has had his hernia repair and is raring to go!! If humans felt as great as he does post op, we wouldn’t need hospital recoup! LOL  He is more than ready for a forever home. He’s sweet, fun, house trained and so dang cute!

8/29/23-Sweet Mugsy had his hernia surgery today & is now ready to go home! This little guy is just the best & everyone is missing out on Mr. Personality Plus!

8/19/23-Mugsy is such a character & a chatterbox! Playful and loving. He is very brave and plays with dogs twice his size. Fearless, but knows enough to get in smaller places for safety! 27 lbs is a perfect weight for him. Loves to race around in the yard with Coco, sits for treats, and getting better walking on the leash. Tolerates the crate better if you’re in the room, at this point. He also loves to snuggle up and nap on a lap. No experience with cats, but barked like crazy at a fat groundhog when he invaded the yard so we still say no kitties. No date for his hernia repair yet as the vet who did his neuter is on vacation until mid next week.

8/17/23-Hey everyone!  This is Mugsy checking in after a fun weekend away while my foster mom was on vacation too!  I was a little sad the first night but after a good sleep, yummy breakfast, and lots of smooches, I perked right up.  There were 3 other doggies at this house and the big boy was my favorite!  He let me bounce around and even jump up on him a little and he didn’t get mad at me.  We got to run in circles and chase after each other in the yard too.  Most of the time I stayed on my leash when outside because there wasn’t a fence – but I was busy sniffing all the new smells so I didn’t even notice it.  I also got to go on a walk with my new friends and can’t wait to do it again!  I hope my new home has some little friends for me to play and walk with too!  I must have been a good boy because the family snuggled me on the couch, gave me lots of cookies, and told me I was so cute.  And I don’t know why but they kept squishing & talking about my big feet.  I guess they liked them.  I was happy to see my foster mom when she picked me up, and I think she missed me too. I did go to the vet this morning as I seemed swollen still from my neuter which was a month ago. Turns out I have an inguinal hernia! They think it may have happened as I didn’t want to slow down right after my neuter & give it time to heal. So now I’m waiting to get a surgery date asap to fix that & I promise to be a good boy this time after surgery & stay more calm!  After my hernia surgery I’ll be ready to go home.

7/21/23-Mugsy is a sweetheart & a lap dog who loves to cuddle and snuggle! He’s very playful with people and dogs, shows no aggression towards anything. He shares food and toys with Coco. They love to play “keep away” with toys and bully sticks. He loves to run and chase after Coco. He’s a ruff and tumble guy! She doesn’t intimidate him at all & he instigates her! Another young dog would be good to help burn off his energy. He has no experience with cats & unfortunately no way to test him. Coco has taught him to be a great watch dog by announcing visitors promptly! LOL He is housebroken because of our routine & working on leash walking and basic commands. Mugsy also tolerates a crate for short periods. He has the coolest eyes, very human like. We don’t know why this great young pup is still here!

7/11/23-Friendly, loving and comical, that’s Mugsy! He walks fairly well on a leash but still pulls some though. He is great with my 2 1/2 yr old grandson. He loves to play keep away and tug with my dog Coco who is twice his size! They do zoomies together in the fenced in yard. He would be very happy with & love a doggie playmate and a fenced yard to run around with them. He mastered the doggie door in 2 days. Mugsy is mostly house trained with occasional marking, but he is not neutered yet so that is expected. His beagle side loves to bark, but we’re working on it! LOL He tolerates the crate. He did well at his vet visit & is heartworm & lyme negative & finishing up treatment for hookworm. Mugsy adapted to this household so quickly & he is very sweet!  He is being neutered on Friday & will be ready to go home after that.

6/21/23-Mugsy has made such a quick turnaround!  He figured out the dog door, scrambling up and down stairs, selected a bed from the few i have (Or steals Coco’s!). They run and play. He started barking and now I’m working on shushing him! LOL He comes when his name is called & he just got here last Saturday & given a name then. Has spent the past year in a cage & his nails show it (ragged and obviously had broken). Whoever adopts Mugsy will be very lucky!

06/17/23-Mugsy is an 1 year old puggle (pug/beagle) rescued from an overcrowded breeder along with Ranger & Arlo. He has arrived thanks to his transport volunteers. He’s already acclimated to the other 2 dogs & a 2.5 year old child here. He is very food motivated & loves a good chin rub!  Mugsy is very sweet & so cute! He has his vet checkup, shots & neuter on Friday 6/30 & will be ready to go home after that! More updates soon.
