7/04/23-Dolly went away with us for the holiday weekend and to my parent’s cabin and had the time of her life. She enjoyed hiking, swimming, and fresh marrow bones every day, and did well with meeting new people, two new dogs and rolling with a pack of five dogs total.
Dolly is doing SO well in her new life that we often forget that she was a puppy mill dog until just over a week ago. She is getting more and more curious and testing limits but listens well to correction. Dolly knows her name and has a great recall. She hasn’t had an accident in the house in almost a week and can be trusted free in the house when we are gone.
Most of the anxiety that Dolly had when we first got her is gone, and we love seeing her sweet little personality coming through. She also gives the best cuddles and kisses. She is spayed next Thursday 7/13 & will be able to go home after that!

6/28/23-Dolly is a big time water dog now! She’s obsessed with splashing around in our pond and it’s so adorable to watch her get the zoomies and run around the edge of the pond. We have been working on training with her and she is starting to understand sit and come. We use a 50 foot leash outside (the land behind our house is unfenced) to give her freedom and test recall, but she never goes far and always stays close to her humans and foster fur siblings. Dolly is picking up on potty training beautifully and has only had a couple of accidents in the house. She is starting to get interested in playing with our dogs and loves having lots of toys to choose from. I think she definitely would do well with having another dog in the house for companionship and to continue giving her confidence, but could also do well as an only dog. We left her alone last night, free in the house with our other dogs, for two hours and we came back to zero disturbances at all. Dolly also sleeps through the night on the floor next to our bed. She jumped on my lap and fell asleep during a work meeting at home even! We absolutely adore this sweet girl.

6/26/23-Dolly is slowly coming out of her shell. She absolutely adores her humans and looks to them for reassurance and guidance. We are working on her being less of a velcro dog! All things considered, she is pretty brave. She is excited to go new places, try new things and meet new people. She went right in to our pond and splashed around with our other dogs yesterday, checked out the local farmer’s market, and is a dream on a leash. While she does not seem to be a runner, Dolly will sneak out the door past us if she thinks that we are leaving her so we have to be careful. She is not interested in her crate at all so we are taking baby steps there & hopefully the crate anxiety eases with time.  Her canines are also in rough shape for only being 2. She’s missing the top left one and her bottom two have decay. This is usually from chewing on the cage/kennel door at breeder’s often out of boredom.  Dolly is currently a big time counter surfer, but is getting better every day. She seeks guidance from my dogs but is not interested in playing with them yet. She is an absolute lover girl and will be someone’s best friend.

6/24/23-We hit the jackpot with our first foster girl. Dolly has the temperament of a labrador retriever—lots of kisses, hugs and cuddles. She immediately took to my husband and me and rode the hour back to our house snuggled up on my lap (even though she’s a 65+ pound lady!) She is understandably anxious, and seeks comfort from her humans. Dolly is not interested in my dogs yet but simply ignores them and does not show any signs of attitude with them. She is a bit mouthy and jumpy but is incredibly gentle about it. It is definitely a behavior stemming from anxiety and love versus anything negative. Dolly did not hesitate to make herself right at home by testing out both the couch and all of the upstairs beds. She is being spayed on Thursday 7/13 & will ready to go home after that!

06/23/23-Dolly is a beautiful 2 year old female Standrard Labradoodle (Standard Poodle/Labrador Retriever). She came in from a breeder farm release that said she loved to give hugs! She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport & overnight volunteers. Everyone along the way said how sweet she is.
