07/18/2023 – Time flies when you are having fun and enjoying your freedom! It’s hard to believe that I have been out of that horrible place for over 2 weeks. There are so many things I want to tell you about myself and I’m trying to figure out where to start. Ok, first thing is that my name is Ivy, I did come with that name and I respond to it. Foster mom calls me Ivy League at times, because she says I’m in a league all of my own. I’m a friendly, lovable 6-year-old boxer who only wants to be loved. I live with 2 foster brothers and get along wonderfully with them (they’re 4 legged just like me). Everyone was worried that I may have a food aggression, but I haven’t shown it here. I actually watch my foster mom prepare the food, put my one foster brother’s food down and he goes to eat it, while she is carrying 2 dishes of food. How she handles them I don’t know. She then puts my other foster brother’s dish down and then tells me to go to place and I happily go to my feeding station. Since I’m the last one to eat, I’m the last one to finish. Sometimes, my little foster brother comes over to check things out and it’s ok by me, I don’t snarl or do anything. Foster mom has come by at times to check up on my eating and she’ll pet me and I’m fine with that. Speaking of pets (not the furry kind), I love to be hugged and kissed. I’m trying to learn how to hug back (at least that’s what foster mom is telling me). I also have this cute thing she says I do when we are all coming inside. I stand at the top of the stairs and give her my paw. Every time I do that she’s been saying “give me your paw” in hopes I learn something. Most of the time she repeats herself over and over again and she gets excited when I do it. I try to make her happy and keep doing it but when enough is enough? I want to go inside to see what my foster brothers are up to.I love when she says the magic word outside – we all go out and do our business and then we can run around the yard and play or sometimes, I just like to lay on the grass basking in the warm sunshine. It’s so nice to have freedom to do the little things in life. I love the word inside as well, because when we are inside, I have this nice comfy dog bed to lay on.Foster mom just reminded me to tell you that I do sleep in my crate at night time and in the morning it is dry. When she goes into the office, we have a dog sitter who comes in and lets us out around lunchtime and again my crate is dry and it’s also good when foster mom comes back from work. I do like it when she works from home, because we get to spend more time outside in the yard.

If anyone is looking for the perfect dog, I’m told it’s me. Today we went to the vet (I had to get checked out because I’m getting spayed) and they all loved me but they didn’t understand, I loved them for giving me all this attention and hugs and kisses and I got cookies there also! They were looking into my eyes, nose, ears and took this thing and listened to my chest. I was fine with all of it because they were paying attention to me, I was getting all the attention and did I mention cookies? I’ll be going back there this Friday to get spayed (not sure what that means) but I’m sure I’ll be getting more cookies and special attention which is fine with me. Afterwards, foster mom told me I’ll be ready for my forever home, I’m excited because I can’t wait to have my own family to love me and for me to love them back!

07/01/23-Ivy is a very sweet & friendly 6 yr old boxer. She was turned into a shelter by a backyard breeder with her two 6 week old boxer mix puppies. They arrived to rescue today thanks to her team of transport volunteers. The owners did not know who the Daddy of the puppies is, he was a stranger in the night! LOL Sadly these were the only two puppies that survived. The owners told the pound that Ivy has food issues around other dogs but they did not see that at the shelter. She has shown no food issues with the people there either so maybe she was protecting her babies or extra hungry? Ivy & her babies are hanging out for the holiday week with a volunteer until they can move to their foster homes. Ivy will be spayed soon & ready to go home once we get to know her better too. More updates soon!
