7/08/23-The puppies are 7 weeks old now & moved to their foster home together but separate from mom. Now they can learn to no longer rely on her for extra feedings. They will get another all wormer this week to help be sure their systems are cleared up. They both should be ready to go home next weekend when they will be 8 weeks old.
7/07/23-The puppies were active and happy the entire time in their temporary foster home for the week. The diarrhea has continued on and off. No other signs of anything wrong with them. They do appear to be a bit underweight. He tried to give them a little extra food and also started to feed them separately to make sure one puppy didn’t hog all the food. He always worries about overfeeding dogs, so he didn’t go too far over the printed guidelines from Canidae. However their appetites are strong and they will eat as much food as you put in front of them. Little piggies! Lol
7/03/23-The puppies have diarrhea and have had it to varying degrees since arrival 2 days ago. Most likely it’s due to just being wormed & food change. Both seem fine otherwise. They are eating and drinking okay and have normal puppy energy. Both puppies are still nursing. Have been feeding them solid food, which they gobble down, before allowing them access to their mother Ivy. I’m feeding them to the Canidae guidelines for their weight, which is 5/8 of a cup per day per dog spread out over 3 feedings.
7/01/23-Tali is an adorable 6 week old boxer mix that came into rescue today thanks to her transport volunteers. She was turned into a shelter by a backyard breeder with her sister Harper & very sweet purebred boxer mom Ivy. The owners did not know who the Daddy of the puppies is, he was a stranger in the night! LOL Sadly these were the only two puppies that survived. They had health check, given an all wormer & had puppy shot. Ivy & her babies are hanging out for the holiday week with a volunteer until they can move to their foster homes. More updates soon!
