9/19/23 UPDATE-We are very sad to report after days of trying very hard by both his foster home & dog sitter, many sightings & even as far as him scratching on the door(but running when door opened), Corky was found this morning & he had been hit by a car & already passed away. At least he had love & freedom from for the past 2 months out of the mill & learned to play with toys & run on grass. Run free little man!🪽💔🐾

9/15/23-Foster boy Corky is missing as of last night in Chepachet, Rhode Island from his dog sitter’s home!

9/11/23-Corky has been out of the puppy mill for eight weeks now.  It is so wonderful to watch all the changes he is going through.  He’s come a long way! He has completely forgotten why he was so interested in my girls.  That has been so nice as they are willing to play and snuggle with him now.  Even though all the toys are his, he is now willing to share.  He shares everything food, toys, bully sticks, foster mom’s attention – no guarding or growling.  He is a happy boy playing in the yard with toys and his daily zoomies – he sometimes gets my older girls to participate.  If you sit with him he loves scratches and petting and allows you to pick him up (he’s put on a few pounds) and touch him all over.  His coat has grown out beautifully.  It’s thick and curly and soft.  It’s time for some grooming and maybe a new look – more poodle like.  This sweet boy is still waiting for his new home, everyone is missing out!

8/24/23-Corky is doing great & I can now say he’s housebroken.  He gets along great with the other dogs but he’s not the type that needs another dog. He would be happy as an only dog too & can keep himself entertained throwing toys up in the air & chasing them! Lol He is the best & most well adjusted puppy mill dog I’ve had. This little guy is personality plus & still wait for his new home. Everyone is missing out!

8/13/23-Corky has been in rescue for 4 weeks now.  The more comfortable he gets the happier he is.  I wish I could capture the joyful dance that he performs when it’s time to eat!  He eats the same diet as my girls and likes to try all the food that they like (red pepper, broccoli, tomatoes).  House training is coming along great.  He doesn’t tell me when he wants to go out but when he starts fidgeting out he goes.  I have to confess that I have given up on crating during the night.  Now we are all just one happy pack sleeping in bed until the alarm in the morning. His hair is starting to come in & he’s even more adorable! We just don’t know why this sweet little guy is still waiting for his new home!

8/01/23-Finally a cooler day and oh the joy.  It was nonstop zoomies.  The consequence was that he slept through the night (finally). He wakes up frequently during the night, I pet him a little and he usually settles but I have slept with him on the couch.  He just wants to sleep in the bed.  As he gets more comfortable here I’m seeing a little bossy boy with a mind of his own.  He is happy to share food but all the toys belong to him.  But there is peace in the house because my girls don’t take him seriously.  Still working on housebreaking but we had a great day yesterday.

7/24/23-I can not say enough good things about this sweet boy.  He will make some family so happy.  Although like all puppy mill dogs he has his past traumas to get over but he just wants to be with his humans.  He remains a little nervous when I bend to touch him but allows me to pet and pick him up.  He jumps up to snuggle on the couch and will sit on my lap for hours.  He is not a fan of the crate but he eats in it and sleeps in a small crate next to the bed.  He will cry when he is put in the crate if I’m leaving the house.  When he is reliably housebroken he will be able to stay out of the crate (he’s getting there).  He is active, curious and mischievous – everything is a toy especially plastic bags, leaves, paper, and clothes.  LOL Don’t miss out on the good boy!
7/20/23-Corky has had a big week and it finally caught up with him.  He had a stomachache due to all the changes (new food, water, anesthesia for neuter & wormer) and was off his food for a day.  Then he learned about chicken and rice yesterday to help his tummy and he was the happiest boy! So happy he tried to learn to counter surf. LOL  He is such a sweet boy.  He constantly watches me and follows me everywhere but right now remains a little scared to be touched.  He is fine with my dogs but is still a little fresh with the females since he’s newly neutered & spent his life as a stud muffin.  They just avoid him, no aggression.  He would be fine in a home with other dogs or as the only dog.  He seems to just want to be near his humans.  Corky has had his vaccines and has been neutered.  He didn’t need any dental work.  He’s getting ear drops for an infection but it looks good.  He is ready for some very lucky family to adopt him!
7/17/23-Corky had another overnight at a different home so he could get neutered today. Corky definitely wanted to play with Greta my little 18 lb boxer puppy. I let them play for about 10 minutes, then it was dinner time. Corky ate a good dinner tonight, has had his bath. He’s a good boy & a really easy dog.
7/16/23-Corky did great with his 2 nights at his temporary spot until he could be transported rest of the way to his foster home. He had a hardy appetite & is very loving and playful.  He will need some potty training like all mill dogs do. He had a few accidents but did go outside as well.  He whimpered a bit at night but as soon as he saw us peek at him, he seemed to feel more comfortable and settled down for the night.

07/14/23-Corky is a 4 year old adorable miniature poodle. He was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as they were just done breeding him. He arrived safely into rescue today thanks to his transport & overnight volunteers. More updates from his foster home soon!
