8/4/23-Yukon is the best puppy I’ve ever had! He has been settling in well and lives with 3 Great Danes who he loves to play with. He has also played with family and friends’ dogs and loves them all.  He does well in a crate at night and he typically goes to work with me daily at a nursing home. He loves everyone and can not get enough attention.  He walks on a harness and leash well for his age, with many corrections not to chew the leash. He enjoys car rides and goes right to sleep. His favorite toys are crinkly stuffed ones and he chews on nylabones. Yukon’s back left leg does looks a bit stiff so her was seen by the vet 7/31. We tested him for lyme as that can cause stiffness, but he is negative. The vet also felt nothing wrong in his hips, knees, paws and did a very through exam, even checking to be sure both legs are the same length. The vet does not feel X-rays are needed and it’s just growing pains that many large breed puppies go through. An anti-inflammatory was prescribed to help with stiffness & vet recommended he goes on a good quality large breed puppy food. Yukon never acts like his leg hurts and it certainly does not hold him back! He is however a drama queen and yips all the time if you move him the wrong way or he gets caught on furniture or bumps into anything. He doesn’t act in pain any other time, he’s just a big sensitive boy! Lol  He was wormed with an all wormer & heartgard plus (also wormer) & nexgard.  He is having a little loose stool & is getting another deworming tomorrow.

7/24/23-Today Yukon is straight chilling in the morning management meeting at his foster mom’s work. He is a really sweet boy. He came over and met the gang of dogs at his foster grandma’s yesterday. Poppy the boxer puppy was so happy meeting him. Yukon didn’t feel the same initially (hyper boxer puppy vs: chill bernese puppy) but he warmed up later on and started to play a bit. Of course Poppy has never seen a big fluffy tail before and every time it wagged she thought it was a toy…poor Yukon! LOL He’s ready to find his new family.

7/22/23-Foster mom says she is in love with Yukon & he is the coolest puppy. They went to Lowe’s and Tractor supply today then went out for a puppy cup (ice cream) she says he did really good on a harness. I think he’s had a great first day of freedom.

07/21/23-Yukon is a handsome 18 week old male Bernese Mountain Dog. He came into rescue tonight thanks to his transport volunteers. He was saved from a puppy mill just because he got too old to sell. He is a good size & very sweet. He won’t be around long!
