8/10/23-I am convinced Patrick came to us potty trained or he is just that smart. He continues to sleep in his crate through the night (crate is dry) and eats like a champ. Patrick also continues to get along fine with the cats, dogs and kids. I see no food aggression issues.  He didn’t want my husky Shadow right in his face, at first, but I’m noticing as Patrick begins to relax and acclimate he’s becoming less concerned. Patrick likes to spend his day camped out with my husband while he’s working. Whether it’s under his desk or by his desk he’s there. Patrick also doesn’t miss an opportunity to snuggle on the couch.  I am noticing that Patrick is getting more comfortable roaming the house, peeking out windows and into rooms. However he still has his timid moments and doesn’t want to be approached too quickly. That too will come with time. Each day we see another part of his personality come through and I can’t help but smile when I look at his face. All in all he has stolen our hearts and I know he is destined for great things!

8/7/23-Everyone’s first impression of Patrick; “he’s so cool!”  Yes, yes he is. In last 24hrs he has been introduced to 2 dogs, 2 cats and children over the age of 13.  Patrick pays no attention to the cats and is good with the kids. I think our husky Shadow was  initially a little startling to him in both size and enthusiasm.  However they are all moving about the house together just fine. Patrick is eating well, his incision is healing nicely and he is using the bathroom outdoors like a champ.  Almost to the point where I wonder if he is already potty trained or just that smart. He loves to snuggle on the couch, lay on your lap while you’re working and just be near you. He also loves his small crate with his soft bed and toy. I took him out around 10:30pm, before bed, and he slept all night.  He got up around 7:30am, with a dry crate, and I took him right out where he promptly used the bathroom.  Rockstar!
His Boston personality is starting to come out and you can’t help but smile when you see that face (that is ultimately judging you).  Oh that face.

8/6/23-Patrick is now at his actual foster home after 2 nights at temporary spots & is settling in. He immediately used the bathroom outback when I got home with him.  He met my dogs and they’re all getting along nicely!  Patrick is happy to be on my husbands lap or anywhere near him. He’s also spent some time wandering about the house checking things out. He’s eaten a 1/2 can of moist purina pro plan chicken.  Not particularly interested in the crunchy stuff yet . Just put him in his crate. He’s protested on and off but doing well. I’m going to try the smaller crate as he might like that better.

8/6/23-Patrick is doing well!  After a quick and easy meet & greet yesterday with my dogs he decompressed in his crate while I completed a leg of transport for Gidget. He ate dinner, had a bath, and hung on the couch with me & hubby (who he really seems to love).  He had a dry bed this morning, ate breakfast and had his medication.  I removed the cone and so far he is not messing with his paw stitches.  His little nubbin is starting to wiggle and he loves to follow us around the house tho is showing independent curiosity as well.  My big boxer boy wants to play with him so much but he will flatten him with one swipe of the paw so giving space!  He does not understand the leash yet so we are having him drag it.  He is submissive but not timid.  He will go to his foster home later today and I’m sure will bloom quickly!  I got kisses this morning so he knows he is safe because of everyone who helped get him into rescue!!!

08/04/23-Patrick is a really cool looking 5 year old black & white Boston terrier with one blue eye & the best bat ears! LOL He was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as they were just done breeding him. He arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to his transport & overnight volunteers. We had him neutered earlier this week & they did a dental cleaning with 4 extractions & we had a small lump removed from his right forepaw. He is on antibiotics & his stitches on his leg need to be removed in about a week. He also has bacteria in his ears & gets drops to clear that up. More updates from his foster home soon!
