8/15/23-Hooch has been with our family for almost 2 weeks now and is fitting in really well. He has found a wonderful play partner in our female dog and has learned (for the most part) to respect our elder dog’s personal space. He is truly an amazing dog! He seems to be very comfortable in his crate at night and even goes in on his own to take power naps during the day if he gets tired. He LOVES to give kisses and will have you covered if you happen to be at his level. Hooch has been very good with my 10 year old son too. His owner said he is friendly & loves kids of ALL ages but he doesn’t know his size & strength & is very rough so not best for really young kids.  I think he will do wonderfully in a home where he can do a lot of running abound outside, with someone who can dedicate time to a very loving and energetic 4-legged friend.  His owner had him on Team Dog Duck & Lamb & a prebiotic/probiotic supplement called Bernie’s Perfect Poop added to each meal & found that helped his sensitive stomach.  She also said Hooch has skin allergies so had him on Zyrtec or benedryl every other day. In July she did get him a Cytopoint allergy shot (good for 8 weeks) at the vet. His owner said Hooch likes his ears rubbed but is extra sensitive having the vet check inside them & will let them know. LOL He saw our vet today for his heartworm/Lyme test (all negative).  The hair behind his ears is missing, but Hooch is not scratching at all. Our vet said if allergies flair up in the future instead of the shot his new owners can try Apoquel allergy pills.  Hooch got a clean bill of health & nothing was seen with his hips & his foster home has not seen any signs of hip issues either. He is officially ready to go home!

8/8/23-Hooch has had a full 3 days with our family now. He was a little nervous about getting out of the car when he arrived on Friday night, but once he did he seemed relaxed and immediately wanted to meet and play with everyone. He met our 2 other dogs the next morning and was greeted with much excitement. He is a very happy and energetic young dog, LOVES to run around the yard, play catch and dig in the dirt. He does very well on a leash and knows some commands, such as “sit”. Hooch is the true definition of a happy puppy, loves everyone and will play endlessly. He also doesn’t know how big he is and has a tendency to jump on people. He sleeps in his crate at night and willingly goes in when prompted. He is a joy to have around and will make a wonderful addition to the right family.

08/04/23-Hooch is a stunning 13 month old bulldoxer (boxer/American bulldog) owner surrender that arrived into rescue today thanks to his transport volunteers. Hooch’s mother was a purebred brindle boxer with a great disposition (owner met her) & his sire was an American Bulldog. His owner was very sad to give him up & really loved Hooch but physically he was too much dog for her as she has some medical issues herself & also financially she was no longer able to provide the possible future medical care he may need.  It was noted that he has a sensitive stomach & possible allergy & hip issues. We will be getting him to the vet soon for his yearly heartworm/Lyme test & check up. His owner said Hooch loves balls, squeaky toys, splashing in brooks and rivers.  He liked to be touching her in the car or in bed. He has been in one on one obedience training but still has crazy boxer type energy where he can suddenly pull on the leash if sees something to explore & will grab & bite the leash if not ready to end the fun! She also said Hooch is a talker & talks back, but is not a barker. More updates soon!
