8/29/23-Kaden is such a happy guy, everyone loves him! He is doing much better with house training, with only one or two accidents inside in the last week and a half. His walking on a leash is improving also, I was even able to take him for a walk with a friend and their dog and he stayed pretty calm. He could use more practice/training for leaving some of the leash loose. Kaden definitely needs to be walked every day, I have missed a day here and there and he is so much more mischievous those days! His forever family will need trash cans with lids, haha. Kaden was wonderful for nail clipping and teeth brushing during his spa day at home, but does not appreciate a bath! He was very nervous for the whole thing. His neuter is next Wednesday 9/6 and he will be ready for his new home that weekend.

8/17/23-Kaden is still wonderful. His head and ears are the softest most velvety thing ever! He has a fantastic appetite. He’s a little bit of a counter surfer so we are working on seeing if we can stop that bad habit! He has had a handful of accidents inside, so when he gets to his new home they’ll need to be very consistent in getting him used to their pottying routine. Kaden enjoys his walks, and doesn’t pull much at all. I’m trying to get him to let more of the leash be loose and walking at a heel with opportunities to get in some great sniffing and do his pottying. He can be a bit cautious/avoidant meeting younger children but if introduced slowly (kids ignore him for a bit) he is fine. He is ecstatic meeting older kids and adults, and so far has been good walking past other dogs while on a leash with no pulling or barking. Kaden is a big baby during people dinner time when he’s in his crate, but he is getting used to not being able to be right at the table during meals. His forever home would ideally have a similarly playful and younger aged dog to play with, he thoroughly enjoys playing with another pup. Kaden’s pre-anesthesia bloodwork results were great. His neuter appointment has been scheduled for the first available, Wednesday September 6th, & he will be ready to go home after that!

8/12/23-Kaden has been here for two days now and is just a delight! He gets along fantastically with our resident Boxer that is 2, and is learning to stay out of our elderly dog’s personal space bubble.  Knock on wood, even with being in the middle of changing his food from what he came with, we have had no accidents so far. He goes in his crate with little protest and sleeps peacefully in there at night. Kaden seems to know a couple of commands, such as “sit”, “off”, and “drop it”. He’s walking pretty well on a leash and prefers a short walk to do his potty.  Kaden adores our daughter (12) and my hubby, loves to be with me, and has been okay with our son (8) but has been accidentally startled by him which made Kaden a little unsure about our son for a couple of hours. Overall he is doing wonderfully. He sees the vet on Thursday 8/17 for his pre-neuter checkup & then we will get a neuter date asap. More updates soon!

8/10/23-Kaden & Leo are two super cute 11 month old boxer boys that came into rescue today thanks to their transport volunteers.  Their owner bought them from a puppy mill as babies. They are from 2 different litters but very close in age. Their owners are an older couple & they realized that they’re not in great physical health themselves anymore to handle two young boxer puppies.  They contacted the mill owner who didn’t want them back & luckily the mill referred them to rescue.  The owners said they were raised with a cat & good with cats & are house trained, crate trained, friendly with dogs too. They went to separate foster homes to get evaluated & neutered & then they will be ready to go home. Both are super sweet!
