8/25/23-Looking for a new best friend? Well Angela Basset is your girl! She enjoys couch snuggles. Long walks, quiet car rides. Loves kids (see 2 yr old with her). Gets along with other dogs and cats. She doesn’t like to be crated but she lets me gate her in my room with my dogs when I leave & does well. She is getting spayed on 8/30 and is ready to go home after that!

8/21/23-Angela had her pre spay check up with the vet & did well She goes back Monday for her bloodwork & her spay is next Wednesday 8/30. This awesome girl will be ready to go home after that!

8/20/23-Four days ago ANGELA BASSET was living in any a breeder farm, today she is living the dream! Hunting dust bunnies and naps on the couch. This dog is amazing.  My company accidentally let her out so I let my other two dogs loose and called them back and she walked right back in the house with them. I wonder if her breeder let her in the house?  She is too well rounded. Right now she is timid when strangers walk up to her but she lets them pet her. I left her home with my dogs the past 2 nights when I worked & gated them in my bedroom. My husband said no issues. Angela Basset went down to Aunt Lisa’s to meet her dogs Kylo and Willie. She received a shower curtsey of Aunt Lisa while getting moral support from the pups. She also met her cat & was great with cat!

8/18/23-Miss Angela Basset has calmed down after crying at the door when her foster mom left her here today while she worked again. She would rather snuggle on the floor than on the couch.  You would not even know that she was rescued 2 days ago. Angela is very smart and inquisitive. Angela is playing with her treats now. She had fun throwing them up in the air. She is adjusting well to life outside of the mill.

8/17/23-YOU AIN’T NOTHING BUT A HOUND DOG DAY #1- Well it’s been less than 24 hrs since Angela Basset came into our care. She is very intelligent – already learned to use the dog stairs to get on the bed. She has been following the dogs outside to potty so no accidents yet.  We had a rough start last night. She does not like the crate and was vocal about that dislike. I’m going to try crating everyday day hoping when she feels safe she won’t need me to be in her sight. I had to work tonight so I dropped her off at another foster home to play with her dog Dottie. Here is update from that visit:

Angela is very sweet and smart & came over to spend some time with my dog Dottie while her foster home had to work. Dottie is still unsure of her, as Dottie is used to much smaller dogs. I am sure they will be friends in no time. Angela is already taken an interest in toys and enjoys looking out the windows. She definitely loves the company of a human and feels safe when they are around. Miss Angela Basset did so well my nieces. She enjoyed the company of a newly 2 year old and an almost 4 year old. They are high energy, and she did really well with them. The girls loved giving her hugs and kisses, and getting kisses back from Angela. She is so sweet and adorable. She loved soaking up all the love and attention!

8/17/23-I tried crating Angela last night for bed & she began the basset baes!  She was quiet when she was with my yorkie girls so we’ve moved to inside the converted garage and we slept there for a bit. Angela kept waking me up  with wet noses when I stopped touching her. She is in my bed now with my dogs. She is very smart, using the dog stairs to get on and off the bed. She brings toys up on the bed, pushes them off, then repeat. LOL

08/16/23-Angela Basset is a 2 year old female Basset Hound. She arrived into our care tonight thanks to her transport volunteers after being saved from a life of breeding in a puppy mill. She is really sweet and not too happy that she isn’t allowed to sleep in bed with the other dogs. She has a vet appointment Monday 8/21 for pre-spay check up & to schedule her spay date asap after that.  Once she is spayed she will be ready to be matched to her new home!
