9/4/23-Sammy has been doing great with eating and roaming around the house. She’s stopped walking on her toes, so the pain in her paws is gone. We did have a kid party with about 11 kids in the house and that definitely was overwhelming for her. She has started taking interest in the cats but nothing outside normal dog behaviors. We have taken her on a couple walks with the leash, that is still a working progress. I did notice when she has a harness on vs a collar she won’t move and is highly uncomfortable, so collar is her choice! Lol She was introduced to two babies 1.5 years old and did just fine as well. She is still adjusting to home life rather than mill life but is a sweet girl with a lot of love to give. I have noticed right now she will run to a man before a female which is good as often mill dogs fear men.

8/29/23-Sweet Sammy has her spay next Tuesday 9/5 so she will be ready to go home that weekend!

8/28/23-Sammy is still, I wouldn’t say skittish as she loves people, but definitely unsure of the house life. We’ve gotten her to finally come into the kitchen from the mudroom & today she even started walking around the house a little bit. She is eating hard dog food now & no aggression around the dogs or kids. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her. After watching her feet, it seems she walks on her toes which causes her to slip and fall on hardwood, but she is getting better with that as well. I think patty it is because her nails are thick and do look like the vet cut them but still so long. I attempted to cut more but I think the quick is right there and she definitely has trouble walking on hard wood but seems okay in the grass.  Sammy will run outside and loves our sandbox. We are still working on getting her appointment for her spay so she can start her new life.

8/27/23-Right now Sammy is very skittish. After living her life at a mill she is unsure of the house. She has not had any accidents though. She will run around outside but is having issues walking on hardwood floor. She is very unsure of the world but she loves her doggie friends and doesn’t pay the cats any mind. She wouldn’t eat hard food the first night but ate it mixed with wet food. She will not walk on a leash yet but we are working with her. Sammy just needs some time to learn the world. Over all she is a very sweet dog!

08/25/23-Miss Sammy is a very sweet 6 year old gorgeous dark brindle & white boxer. She was saved from a puppy mill as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport volunteers. She will need to be spayed & then she will be ready to go home. More updates from her foster home soon!
