10/13/23-One update on Ginger, she is good with cats!  While we were away, she and my dogs stayed with my sister who has 2 cats.
Ginger did well & was not bothered by them at all.

10/10/23-Ginger is sweet girl who came into our care a month ago from a puppy mill. She’s learning how to live in a loving home where she is part of the family. During her time with us she has made so much progress. Every day we see a little more of her personality. While she’s still a little shy and quite skittish, she is choosing to spend time with our family and has even started investigating the dog toy box. House training is still a work in progress. She’s very good at going potty outside but not so good at telling you she needs to go out and still not brave enough to use the doggy door. She shows all the signs, you just have to watch her. Ginger does well in her crate & never makes a peep. Due to life in a cage & lack of exercise prior to rescue Ginger is still a little weak in the backend and would benefit from more exercise. She likes to run around in the yard but we’ve yet to get her to walk on a leash so she will need work with a harness to get her better at that.

She enjoys massages. Whoever gives
her massages is sure to win her heart! Lol Ginger has only recently started to show interest in play either with others in with our pugs or with toys. This will be something you get the joy of watching her explore.
As Ginger is still skittish and therefore she is a flight risk. For her safety she needs a well fitted harness and to be leashed at all times when outside or if in a non-fenced in area. Ginger’s initial veterinary paperwork noted she had start of bad teeth so she may need a future teeth cleaning & a full transition to dry food (these mill dogs often only get slop). She is being spayed next Wednesday 10/18 & will be ready to go home after that.

9/25/23-Hi everyone! Ginger here! Welcome to my blog! Things are going great at my foster home! I now know my name, I enjoy spending time with my foster family and I’ve also started to show some interest in playing with my puggie friends.  My foster mom even saw me wiggle my little nubbin. That’s what she calls my tail. She says it’s a sure sign I’m coming out of my shell, feeling much more comfortable and confident.

My foster dad has won my heart because of his magic body massages. They make my little muscles feel so much better.  The little girl who lives here has a friend who comes over sometimes.  I adore children. I even showed the little girl my belly! She gave me a nice belly rub so I gave her a little kiss on her hand.  While I’m still shy and a bit skittish, I’m getting better everyday at learning how to be a family member.  Stay tuned for my next update.

9/13/23-I went to the vet today for my spay appointment and as it turns out, I’m in heat.  Gosh, I’m so happy I’m not at the mill anymore. Unfortunately, this new information has delayed my surgery and consequently, my adoption too. I guess being in heat explains why I’ve been a little grumpy w/ my male foster puggie friend. Today I sat on the couch with my foster family. Dad was giving me some of those magic shoulder rubs. They feel so nice and they help me relax.  He’s stopped for a second or two and I actually pawed at him to ask him for more rubs.  Also, I ate all my dinner today.  I’m still very shy and I have a ways to go yet before I reveal my true personality, but I will get there soon.  I’m already starting to feel more comfortable here. My new spay appointment is scheduled for Wednesday October 18th.  So, I get to stay a while longer.  That means there’s more time to get your applications in to adopt me. Are you my forever home match?

9/12/23-Hi! I’m Ginger.  I’m a 2-year-old toy Aussie – that means I’m smaller than a mini aussie.   Aren’t I cute!  I’m still figuring out what it’s like to be a pet and live in a home.  On my first day at my foster home, I got a bath!  I’m fresh and clean.  I did pretty good in the bath if I do say so myself. Also, this coat of mine is super soft.

I have 3 puggie friends, and a 7 year old little girl at my foster home.  The little girl is my favorite.  I was very scared when I first got here, but she always makes me feel better.  She even made me feel comfortable enough to eat a few bites of food at meal times.  I like to follow her around.  I even get to sleep in her room.  She doesn’t snore thank goodness.  I really need my new home to have a little human to make me have my best life. That would be great!

My foster parents say I’m very sweet.  I’m shy and my personality has not come out yet, but I’ve only been here for a few days.  I’ve been very quiet and keeping to myself as I adjust to my foster home, but I have been watching my foster family carefully.  I haven’t barked, sqeaked or sqawked once. I’ll fine my voice when I get settled more. I’m learning what it’s like to have a family and be a pet.  Pets get to sit on warm laps, watch TV and help the little girl with her reading and math homework.  I’ve seen humans giving their doggies lots of hugs, kisses, belly rubs and treats.  I haven’t shown anyone my belly yet, but my foster parents have given me some shoulder rubs.  That was really nice!  I hope my forever family will give me lots of shoulder rubs. My spay appointment on Wednesday 9/13, & after a little more time to get to know me & my needs for a new home I will be ready for my forever home!

09/08/23-Ginger is an adorable very sweet & tiny 2 year old black tri-color toy aussie (toy Australian shepherd). She was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as they just didn’t want her anymore. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to his transport & overnight volunteers. She is being spayed on Wednesday 9/13 & will be ready to go home after that. More updates soon on this sweet girl!
