10/26/23-Macy is doing great!  She is more than ready for her forever home.  In the short time she has been a part of our household she has gone from a scared, timid girl to a happy, outgoing excited lovey girl whose nubby tail is always wagging. Her personality is growing every day and will blossom in her forever home. She is a beautiful super sweet girl who gets along great with her foster sisters and brothers and loves to follow her foster parents around the house.  Macy is crate-trained, leash-trained, potty-trained, and full of butt and stubby wiggles.  She has a little bit of a wild side with getting her nose into the laundry and looking to see what’s on the kitchen counter 😄.  She is not thrilled with car rides, she freezes up at first but relaxes some during the ride.  I’m sure the more she’s in a car the better she will do.

10/13/23-Macy is ready to go home! Here are some quotes from 3 volunteers who met Macy last week:

“I had her from Thursday to Saturday, before her transport, she was the sweetest girl, got along perfectly with Onyx (the foster puppy) even when he stole her treat, very shy at first but warmed up. She is a love bug.”

“I had the pleasure of helping with transporting Macy to her foster. She is as sweet as can be.”

“This lady!!!! We got to meet her on transport last weekend-she’s beyond sweet and docile. Her spirit is quiet but not broken. If her eyes could speak, you wouldn’t be able to ignore the horrors mill dogs endure…”

10/12/23-Macy is a gentle, sweet and right now a little bit timid girl. She is learning stairs, that she can drink water whenever she wants, what treats are and what it’s like to be spoiled. She gets along well with my 4 dogs. Her and my male Boston Terrier especially are in a love affair! LOL She was spayed and had her teeth cleaned yesterday. Her teeth, which are now white (but ground down), were in horrible shape. The vet said her teeth were full of dirt and fur. It’s almost like she was fed off of the ground and her food had rocks, dirt and fur mixed in. I don’t have cats but I think she would do well with them. I have chickens that she pretty much ignores. She seems to have an indifferent attitude in general. She is good with her crate. Sometimes she can be a little apprehensive about going in but is beginning to understand it is not a punishment. I give her a treat and scratchies every time I put her in so she associates it with good. So far so good with house training, but I do bring her out often and praise her when she does her business outside. Macy is also good on the leash. Whoever is fortunate enough to get this girl will be very lucky!

10/05/23-Macy is a beautiful 4 year old female fawn boxer. She was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport & overnight volunteers. She does have really bad teeth most likely from being feed mushy food/slop or chewing rocks or the kennel out of boredom (often seen with mill dogs). We will see if our vet can do a dental cleaning at the same time as her spay. More updates soon from her foster home.
