10/19/23-Millie went on her first “outing” yesterday. We walked some trails nearby and she did a whopping 2.5 miles. When any people / dogs walked by I held her to be safe but it was good exposure and she didn’t seem to mind them too much. Then went to the vineyard next door and she settled right in. She will make a great little companion for the right family. Now for a long snooze!

10/18/23-Ms. Millie Jean is sweet as pie. All she wants is love / attention / affection from her people. She loves belly rubs, kisses and just being close by at all times. She had her first bath and all her mattes and scabs were removed, her coat is now shiny and smooth. She has had no accidents in the house. A little jumpy at times but she gets away with it due to her size.  🙂 We will slowly introduce some obedience training. She still needs someone to accompany her off the deck into the fenced yard because it’s a lot of new, open space for a little girl! So far so good on a leash; we are working on further distance gradually, but no pulling. Currently fostered with a male Aussie, she mostly ignores him but a few snarls when he is invading her “attention space”- we think this is just her craving affection after so many years of no human connection and would probably get better over time once she knows consistent care, so more to come. Would of course be fine as an only dog as well. She will be spayed on Monday 10/23 and has a few medical checks to be done before she is available very soon for adoption.

10/15/23-Millie loves couch cuddles, kisses and humans. Eating, drinking and taking her meds for us and a few successful bathroom trips outside! Doesn’t mind rest in the crate as long as someone is within eye sight. Not phased by our aussie after their intro.
Loved her first bone and a few licks of peanut butter.  She sure is a sweetheart. Got all of the mattes and scabs off of her and she kissed us through her entire bath. Her one blue eye gives her a very cute & unique look to add to her sweetness.

10/14/23-Millie arrived to her foster home today. She is settling in nicely here. Loves people and hasn’t stopped wiggling and wagging her tail nub. Such a resilient little girl!

Here are some quotes from 3 of her transport volunteers that helped:
“Super sweet and loved giving kisses.”
“She is a heart stealer!”
“ She is such a sweetheart!”

10/12/23-Millie Jean is a sweet as pie 2 year old female old mini aussie (miniature Australian Shepherd) rescued from a puppy mill along with Jackson. They arrived safely into our rescue tonight thanks to their transport & overnight volunteers. She is lyme positive so is on an antibiotic for that. Monday 10/23 is her spay & after that she will be ready to go home!
