10/23/23-Bijou will be an easy addition to any family. With that being said, she would do best with a family that will walk her regularly and let her play outside. She is small but she is definitely not a purse dog! We went on a 2+ mile pack walk yesterday with about 10 of our dog friends and she was in her element. She is learning not to pull on the leash but otherwise does well on it. We also have been going for longer walks by our house (about a mile loop) a couple times a day. I can see this little one hiking mountains without tiring out!

Bijou is very much still a puppy but she’s also at a great age where she’s done teething, has bladder control, and is starting to learn commands. You get the best of both worlds with her!
We are working on crate training but she did break out of the crate last night. We found her sound asleep on the couch (her absolute favorite place) with zero destruction to be found. She’s very interested in benebones, marrow bones and whichever stuffed animal my dogs have and will busy herself with them when she’s being ignored. She seems to automatically know which items on the floor are for dogs and which are not. She has been pretty easy to train so far and is really smart.
10/22/23-Bijou is a happy, bouncy, cuddly puppy with zero signs of being affected by her time at the mill. She has zero fears and loves all people and dogs she meets. Her favorite activities are flying over the back of my couch to dive bomb my dogs, cuddling on the couch, playing outside (she LOVES the outdoors), and trying to drink water out of my glass. Bijou even went swimming with my dogs yesterday after likely never having seen a pond before!
She came from the mill with about two inches of matted hair which she let me cut away slowly yesterday. It still needs some work but I’m no professional lol  and she is much more comfortable now. She can’t believe how much better she feels and loves rubbing all over the couch and floor to get her scratches in. Her new hair is super soft like a rabbit’s and she loves being pet. Bijou is great in the car, and is working on the crate. She’s too curious to leave out unsupervised. While she doesn’t love the crate she settles after about 15-30 minutes and doesn’t go potty in her crate. So far we haven’t had any accidents in the house but she is a puppy so I’m sure that will change as she learns! Bijou’s name means jewel and she is certainly a rare gem! She will be an easy addition to any family and living situation as she truly only wants to be loved and is very resilient. Based mostly on her demeanor I feel that she would be fine with any size dog, maybe cats who don’t mind annoying puppies, and kids.

10/21/23-Bijou is a sweet, spunky girl with no fear. She slept on my lap the whole way home, didn’t even flinch when my two fur kids ran out of the house barking at her, and even went swimming with them already (definitely lab in her! Lol) Her mats are pretty awful. My clippers won’t get through them so I’m working away with scissors as she will allow me to but it’ll take a while. She will definitely need a full shave with a very experienced groomer once she’s adopted. We tried a bath which she didn’t love but tolerated and now she’s bundled up in a towel on the couch. Good thing we allow dogs on the couch because it was the first thing she checked out in our house! LOL Bijou also has some crazy springs in her feet and bounces around the house. She is a typical puppy and seems to be unaffected by her time in the mill. She is getting spayed on Wednesday 10/25 & will ready to ho home soon after.

10/19/23-Bijou is a cute as can be 8 month old mini labradoodle (miniature poodle/Labrador retriever). She was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as she just got too old to sell. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport & overnight volunteers. She is only 18 lbs now so we estimate she will be about 25 lbs full grown. She definitely has more of the poodle genes as her fur is tightly curled like a poodle. This cutie won’t be here long!
