12/24/23-Georgie is doing very well & is now ready to go home!  I don’t have a way to test her with cats but I’ve seen no indication of a prey drive in Georgie. She has started to chew on bones but has no interest in the lamb stuffed animals my dogs love to pretend to attack. Lol  I’ve also never seen her show interest in animals (squirrels and birds) in the backyard. My guess would be she is tolerant of cats. Also we have heard most of the puppy mills have barn cats so most of the dogs coming in are usually good with cats.
12/21/23-Madame Georgie has definitely come out of her shell these past few days, which has been wonderful to see. She continues to be gentle, calm, and loving. She follows me everywhere I go and is content to sit in anyone’s lap. She is very good with our dogs, but really enjoys human attention.  She would make for a wonderful companion animal for someone. Her energy and appetite are all up from her first day with us. It is clear Georgie did not have any training (leash, house, or obedience) in her life at the puppy mill, but she is good about doing her business outside when she is brought out and is occasionally using training pads in the house. Georgie arrived a few days post-spay with quite a medication regimen and she has been a complete champ in the healing process. She takes her medicine easily, which goes along with her gentle nature. Georgie will offer a lot of love to someone who has attention to give her.
12/17/23-Forgot to add Georgie’s medical info: we had a dental cleaning done & she didn’t need any extractions, has a yeast infection in her ears being treated with drops for 7 days & when she was spayed she had an inguinal (groin) hernia repair done too & is on antibiotics to prevent any infections coming up post surgery. She should be feeling better in a few days after all this!
12/16/23-Georgie arrived yesterday & we were told she was very nervous. It is clear it will take some time for Georgie to adjust to life outside the puppy mill, but it is also already evident that she is a sweet and gentle girl! For now, she prefers to stay in her crate, but she is fine being picked up, held, and taken outside to go potty. She has had first introductions with kids (8-10 years) & dogs and was docile and tolerant of everyone. I think there is a love bug waiting to emerge from this pup—she just needs to settle into her new normal.
12/15/23-Madame Georgie (aka: Georgie) is an adorable 4 year old female bichon frise. She was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as they just got done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. She is very nervous right now, as expected, but seems very gentle and sweet. More updates soon.
