She is a little explorer now wandering the house investigating new areas and making visits to other family members. Her foster dog sister (also a mini Goldendoodle) and her have become wonderful friends even napping nose to nose of each other! Mya is such a good, sweet girl – she sleeps all night, lays on her blanket in the kitchen to watch us cook and just loves to be near her people. She listens very well and gets so excited wagging her tail every time she sees you wake up! Mya also loves to run in the yard and has just discovered how fun toys can be. She picks one up, tosses it slightly and then pounces after it – it is so fun to watch her, and she always makes us smile! With her improving curiosity she has tried to climb over our 4 ft yard fence to see what’s on the other side. So if you have a low fenced yard you will need another layer of protection to secure her to help keep her safe (runner/leash or add height or electronic fence border to yard). She truly is the happiest dog and will make a wonderful companion. Mya can’t wait to find her forever family to love them!
1/29/24-Mya is still skittish with loud noises or fast movements but is getting better each day as she learns us and the noises at home. Once she trusts you she is a cuddle bug! Here is a picture right now of her with my husband on the bed. She cuddles with him and I now. I don’t think she needs a quiet house but just not a really busy one. She does well with quieter dogs like Gracie and our older cats but hustle n bustle probably would be too stressful for her.1/27/24-Forgot to add Mya is crate trained too. She walks right in and barks a few times if you leave but then settles in for a nap. Such a good girl who is now ready to go home!
1/26/24-So, excited that Mya hasn’t had an accident for 6 days and knows ‘outside’. She also is now walking on the leash and took a walk with us today! If we lead Mya to her crate she walks right in but she doesn’t know a verbal cue yet. Wonderful for only 1 week out of the farm!
1/23/24-Mya is slowly transitioning to her new life after five years in a puppy mill. She is such a joy and a sweetie. She is getting used to the sounds of the house and even occasionally enjoys watching TV with her foster family. There is a favorite corner of our loveseat that has become her go-to-place and she often goes there to look at the lake or to take a nap. Mya is still nervous around fast movements or people but every day she gains that little bit more courage. She has formed an attachment to my husband and has become his little shadow following him around the house and helping supervise our home remodel lol. When he goes into the garage she waits patiently by the door for his return. She is also learning from our Goldendoodle how to go ‘outside’, to go ‘potty’, and then to come ‘home’ when it’s time to warm up inside. She hasn’t had an accident in the house in the last few days so she is doing very well. We started taking her outside every few hours but each day we are trying to extend that time longer. She loves the outdoors, smooshing her face into the snow and running around the yard playing with her foster sister. Mya has been very afraid of the leash but has graduated to wearing the leash around the yard as she plays so she can become comfortable with it. She still freezes when we pick up the leash to walk her but we are hopeful on her progress. Mya has also mastered the stairs and walks very nicely up and down them. With building her trust, Mya has become a cuddle bug and likes to curl up next to us on the bed or couch. Every once in a while she looks up for reassurance and pets then her golden brown eyes start to close for her next nap. This beautiful girl will be a great dog with some additional training and patience!01/20/24 – Mya, meaning Great One/Mother, settled in nicely to her foster home last night. She was a bit nervous but seems very gentle and sweet. If you move slowly or sit on the floor she will slowly walk up to you to be pet. She was very hungry last night after her long transport day and ate all her dinner and drank plenty of fresh water. She was recently shaved so her hair looks short and light tan but in a few weeks it will grow in nicely and look beautiful with her doodle waves and color. Mya also had her bath last night. She just stood still while she received her spa treatment like she was ready to be pampered. After her bath, she settled into her crate and fell asleep. She was so tired that she didn’t make a peep all night and woke up when we did. Mya is already getting a bit more comfortable this morning – she follows us around and lays next to us on the couch. She gets along very well with our Mini Goldendoodle and it is fun to watch them trot around the house side by side. Our cat wanted to say hello too and Mya didn’t seem to mind him near her. We will be working on potty training and leash training starting today. Mya is so sweet and I am sure she will find her furever home very soon!
01/19/24 – Mya is a beautiful 5 year old female Mini Goldendoodle that was saved from being killed by a puppy mill as they just got done breeding her. She arrived safely into our rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. She did test positive for Lyme Disease and Anaplasma so she is currently on antibiotics. Mya also has yeast in her ears & has ear infection drops. She took her medicine very well, they were added to her dinner bowl and she gobbled them all up. Mya was also just spayed so she’ll be ready to go home very soon. More updates to come on this sweet girl!
