2/22/24-Cocoa has been with us almost a week now and we’re learning more and more about her.  She loves all people…tiny tail is wagging and she’s so happy to meet new people.  She also went on her first leash walk which she did really well on.  Kinda slow on the leash with all the new sights and scents.  She did get startled when a car drove by but regained her composure pretty quickly.  Met some 3rd grade kids and was a gentle girl.  Now that we’re back to work, we’re realizing she doesn’t love the crate, but is improving daily. We have a camera on her to watch her while we’re not there to make sure she’s safe.   She would need someone who’s consistent with crating to get her 100% trained.  House training is coming along really well also. We’re learning her cues and yesterday was only one accident.  She snuggles like a champ and had a great bath with pumpkin spice shampoo.
2/19/24-I’ll start by saying that I’ve never owned a cocker spaniel before and I had no idea what to expect from this sweet little girl. That being said, I’m  so blessed to be fostering her.  She’s the most well adjusted puppy mill dog I’ve ever fostered. She was an expert passenger in the car ride home and even tried her first donut….which she decided she loves. Cocoa did get a haircut while in vet care, so it’s not a professional grooming, but she’s still soft as velvet.  While giving her ear treatment, she’s a five star patient. She just has a hard time sitting still .  Now that she’s free from the awful puppy mill, she’s playing with toys and running around . She chases the ball and brings it back to play again.  She’s highly food motivated so we’re working on the “sit” command as well as “upstairs”.  She snuggles and runs with my two 55-60lb dogs completely unphased by their size. We’re still working on the house training, but she is smart so I’m sure she’ll figure it out soon.  She’s also not used to unlimited water, so it’s a learning curve like all mill dogs.  More updates to follow as we continue to learn more about this precious puppy.

2/17/24-Cocoa has made it to her foster home. She was a beautiful passenger in the car and is already drinking and playing here. More updates soon!

02/16/24-Cocoa is a sweet 4 year old beautiful chocolate & white female Cocker Spaniel. She was saved from a puppy mill as they just got done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport & overnight foster volunteers. She does have yeast in her ears she is being treated for. We had her spayed & teeth cleaned but they didn’t do any extractions.
