2/20/24-Tragically Sadie Pretty Lady did not make it after her spay & is now at the Rainbow Bridge. She was spayed today but she had complications after her surgery. The vet had to open her back up to stop the bleeding & she went into cardiac arrest & didn’t make it. Our thoughts go out to her foster mom who loved her already.
2/18/24-Sadie is beautiful, she is sweet, she is loving, and has a very, very easy/relaxed temperament compared to most puppy mill dogs. She basically jumped in the car and walked easily into the house and was in seventh heaven, when she went into the crate that had a brand new dog bed, that was about 4 inches thick. It was so rewarding to see her circle around twice lay down and just literally snuggle in to the softness. Was a little reluctant about going outside but she’s getting much better and is still investigating what different things smell like but was not reactive at all to the radio and TV which most puppy mill dogs are very startled by. Will go to the vet on Monday, February 19 for initial visit and since she came to me in heat, the vet is going to evaluate whether or not he can do the spay the next day or we’ll have to wait a couple of days. She does also have a big scar & open wound that is right below her right shoulder blade. Her health check at our vet when she came in sent her with Vetericyn antimicrobial spray & said to just spray twice a day until healed. We will get a 2nd opinion from our other vet on Monday as to how he feels about it. It is an open area but it is not draining any kind of infection. Other than that Sadie is delightful, more to come after we take our trip to the vets.
02/16/24-Sadie Pretty Lady is a very pretty 3 year old boxer. She was saved from a puppy mill as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. Her pre-spay appointment is next Monday 2/19 & hopefully she can be spayed soon after. Once she is spayed & we get to know her a little more she will be ready to go home!
