Speaking of outside time, King is doing really well on his leash. It’s not perfect, as there is still some pulling – he is fascinated by squirrels! – but he does better every day. He is also doing a great job of continuing to learn the “indoor-dog” routine. We will be starting on basic commands next.
King’s check-up with the vet went very well – except he didn’t like the part where they drew blood! Other than that, he allowed the techs to poke and prod as much as they needed to. We were a little concerned about his ears, but they’re absolutely fine. The one thing the vet did recommended was an eventual dental cleaning, but it’s nothing that has to be done right away.
We’ve introduced King to our human next-door neighbors (adults and middle/older age kids), and he has loved them all. Next up will be a slow introduction to our doggie neighbors. We have quite a selection: large/small, hyper/calm, old/young, so we should be able to get a good idea of King’s likes and dislikes!
Stay tuned for more updates on this snuggly snuggle-bug! He is now ready to go home!
11/2/21-Introducing King! This distinguished older gentleman spent most of his life as an outdoor dog, so he’s only now discovering the delights of an indoor life. He has very quickly decided couch snuggles are awesome! Since he was an outdoor dog, King is still getting used to the usual household routines –but with his foster sisters showing him the ropes, he is learning fast. He does appear he may have an ear infection which we will get checked out & taken care of soon.
King gets along very well with his foster siblings (2 dogs, 2 cats and a parakeet!) and his human foster family. We will be making more introductions over time – with children & other adults – so check back soon for more updates
