3/13/24-Finnley is finally starting to come around.  I have gotten him walking some on a leash. He is doing better about going outside for potty too. He is still a bit resistant getting out of the crate. He likes to chew on bones and investigate things on the coffee table, and socks. LOL This sweet boy is waiting for his new home!

3/7/24-Finnley has now been with me for 12 days. He is beginning to follow me through the house. He is very comfortable in the crate. He eats his meals well and takes treats nicely. He was neutered today & he is now ready to go home. He is about 5 lbs overweight so will be about 48 lbs once he gets some good exercise.  Potty training and leash training are both a work in progress. Finnley simply lays down and lets you pick him up rather than walking on the leash. He did walk a little on the leash when I picked him up at vet office after his neuter. Now that he has been neutered, I will be working on leash training using a harness rather than a no slip leash. Finnley rides well in the car. He looks out the windows or lays quietly. When it comes to meeting new people he lays down and allows them to pet him. Today he went to a car dealership and he received a lot of attention. Everyone there loved him and he was a good boy letting them pet him. One of the salesmen actually helped me carry him into the showroom. I know he will start opening up more over time. He will be a great family dog in a home with another dog. He was raised on a horse farm so would also be a perfect farm dog. This handsome boy has great potential with someone willing to work with him.

3/1/24-Finnley is beginning to venture out of the crate & coming in from outside a little better.  He is pulling toys out to chew & is getting more comfortable/curious. Today he decided he should knock over my water tumbler…twice. Lol

2/28/24-Finnley came into foster care 4 days ago. He is a shy boy at this point. He does not like the leash as he probably never had one on. He is treating the crate as his safe zone & goes to the back of his crate or lays down.  He is sweet & no aggression but he will not come to me yet with or without the leash. Finnley has checked out my dog but has not tried to engage in play yet. He will follow her outside but not always follow her back into the house. He eats his dry food well and is a good drinker. I am sure as he adjusts to the new environment he will become trusting of me since I supply the food. Lol He is actually laying outside the crate tonight so baby steps! Finnley will have his check up, neuter & shots on Thursday 3/7. After that & we get to know him a little better he will be ready to go home.

02/24/24-Finnley is a gorgeous about 18 month old male Australian Shepherd that came from an overcrowded breeder. He arrived into rescue today along with Cadhla thanks to their temporary foster & transport volunteers. Here is what his temporary foster volunteer said about Finnley the few days she had him at her farm:

“The boy is short but stocky and a little fatter than he’s suppose to be. lol Nervous now but we’re both very outgoing and playful there at the breeder’s farm.  He wants to love us so bad. He takes treats from your hand and is all over the gate when you walk up to it but still nervous when there’s nothing in between him and the person. You have to toss the treats if he’s not in the horse stall. He will let you grab him. I leave a leash connected to them so they can get use to being leashed and he let’s me grab it and force a little love. He plays with toys now that he knows what they are and plays with the other dogs when he gets comfortable He’s a bundle of fun and so badly wants to like people but is still waiting to give in. Yesterday he kept his distance, today he was more with the “pack” with us instead of off by himself. Obviously another change will be hard but once they are with another socialized dog and not their pack of 5 they are in now they will be much better I think. He just needs someone who’s gonna offer him stinky yummy treats and be patient. Even being fearful he hasn’t even curled a lip and I pick him up to get him back in the stall. He kinda trots away from me but I grab the leash he lays down and then I scoop him up.. fat little bugger. LOL I let them all run and play during chores and feed time he gets tired quick.lol”
